Hi I am 31 with one little girl who is 4 next month. I have PCOS and have just taken my first ever clomid tablet (50 mg I think) and have a really unhelpful GP and specialist who have given me no information or reassurance about my situation.

I have not used contraception since my daughter was born and I had to literally tell the specialist at my last appointment after he said he could do nothing to help me and that i should keep trying that I would not walk away from his office without something as I knew there were things that could be tried as I've never had any medication for PCOS (only diagnosed a few months ago).

It would be nice to hear from anyone who is or has been in a similar situation as I don't feel able to talk to my friends and family about my desperation for a brother or sister for my little girl as a lot of them are pregnant or with new babies and I don't want to make them uncomfortable.

Good luck to the rest of you! x

Hi,

welcome to clomid! I fell pregnant with my son on my second cycle of clomid back in 2008. I am now back on clomid as we too really want to give our liitle boy a brother or a sister!
You can get quite a bit of discomfort when you ovulatebut as long as it isn't horribly painful then it is normal!
You might also notice that your cm dries up when on clomid. Many people use ribitussin or preseed to help with this.
Are you going to have a midcycle scan?
Good luck!
Good luck!

Thanks so much for replying, I've thought about preseed but unsure where to get it. Suppose I should start with ebay. I was unsure whether to take day or night so read up and thought I'd try before bed to hopefully minimise the side effects.

Not having a scan unfortunately but my gp is doing progesterone blood tests on day 21.

Do you have PCOS? Are you in the UK?

Good luck to you too xx

hi Tracy80

Hi Tracy, I also have PCOS (have had it and known about it for years) so know what your going through. I have had many cycles of Clomid and although only on 50mg had the worst side effects - have decided to only take half a tab for 5 days rather than a whole one and touch wood - havent had to visit the hospital again!

if you have questions please ask away - I know how daunting this whole thing is and I also had the most awful Drs - they didnt even tell me I had PCOS, I had to see it on the screen!! lol

:dust:

hi tracey, im the same boat....took nearly 18 months + to conceive our son. i havent had a natural period since i was 18...im now 29...docs refused for ages to investigate...eventually took blood...said my testosterone was too high and a scan confirmed a few cysts, although a previous scan showed none....so i was told i had pcos. after our son was born we said we would try straight away knowing it would take ages..and here we are again....my doc referred me to see a menstrual specialist just to see about me not having periods but the receptionist referred me by accident to a reproductive specialist which of course was better......he quite abrupt and doesnt explain much......he firstly said how did i know i had pcos!! then said well if your a normal weight in theory it shouldnt cause you any problems! which is total rubbish - i mean jamie olivers wife struggled to conceive with pcos and shes a thin as a beanpole - im just a normal weight. anyway now ive been told my fsh is slightly elevated but nothing to worry about!!!!!!!! but he just prescribed 3 months clomid with no checks etc other than i go back in 4 months to see how ive got on!!

Hi Tracy! I'm (very recently) pregnant thanks to clomid, so I'm a big fan.

I'm in the UK and bought both preseed and conceive plus from the Access Diagnostics website and found them good.

Are you charting your temperature? It's a more reliable way to tell whether you've ovulated....cd21 bloods are only really indicative if you've ovulated on or around cd14, which isn't always the case.

There's lots of women on here with lots of experience, so ask away with any questions you've got! xx
