I am wondering if anybody has/is going through IVF due to low sperm counts. My husband has low sperm count...i ovulate on my own and everything is fine. Our specialist has advised for us to do IVF and i am -ofcourse scared. I guess really scared of Hyperovulation, and sick of going under and having things done. We desperately want to have a baby but i guess i'm just wondering if anybody can share some of their own experiences. thanks

hey hun i think you might be better off posting this in the LTTTC section there are people on there having IFV due to mobility problems and other things

:hugs:

It all depends on how low his count is, and the results for motility, morphology and total volume. If his count is marginally low, but the rest is good, and all is ok with you, then you might still get pg naturally. However, if is it very low, or the rest is not too good, than you might have to consider IVF.

Also, did your OH only do one test? My OH did the first one in Feb and his count was 18million. His motility was fine but morphology low, so the consultant advised icsi. However, we decided to wait 3 months and retest (took vits and lowered alcool) and his count had gone up to 29million, taking him now in the 'normal' parameters. We've decided to ttc naturally again for another three months and test again.

hey hun, thanks for your response... my dh's count was 15 mill, with 18% morphology and 30 % motility therefore was low on count and motility. THe second test his count came back at 5 million, which didn't make any sense because he stopped smoking, is not a drinker - on the occassion - and was taking all the vitamins for 3 months after the 1st test. He did have a bad case of the flu when he was tested the second time, however how are we to know if that was the prob....Good luck to you and your partner and i hope you fall preggers soon...all the very best...i hope it happens for us soon too....

thanks for your best wishes :hugs:
Because of the difference between the two tests, I would definitely do a third one. The first result, although not great, would probably mean that a pregnancy is possible, assuming all is well with you and you are prepared to be patient. The second one would be more of a problem.

I know how you feel about going through IVF. After our first result, we talked and decided that we should try it if it was the only chance we had of a pregnancy, despite the only 20% chance of success in our case. However, since the second result, we're becoming less keen. My OH is really anxious about the whole procedure, I'm sure really concerned about the low chance and the emotions that go with it, and then there is the cost. I am praying that the third test will came back as the last or of course even better because I would much rather keep on ttc, even if it takes a long time than go through a one shot chance.

Good luck to you too whatever you decide is best for your two :hugs:
