Was born 24th August 2009 8:26am 5days late.
Earlier that day had to go into the day assessment unit for my daily blood pressure check, was examined the midwife said I was not ready for labour and couldnt even do a sweep as my cervix was too high.
The consultant wanted to induce me that da but i decided to wait 9 more days.
Went home and thought he wont be coming and i will have to be induced and had a date booked for the 28th august.
Later that night felt abit achy and had period pains couldnt sleep was back and for toilet feeling heavy, took some paracetomol around 1am, didnt work.
Got up and went downstairs wondering whther to wake my partner as wasnt sure if it was labour. Starting have a contraction every 10mins not lasting long. woke up partner and we went to my mums for a bath as ours dont work at the moment. timed contractions they wre coming every 5mins lasting 40secs didnt take long at all. when they were lasting a minute we rang hospital was told to come in.
I coped by leaning over the bed and having my back rubbed then after 2 hours had gas and air i was 4cm when she checked. I had a shot of pethidine although it didn do too much within half an hour i was fully dilated i wanted to push.Pushed for an hour the pushing was horrible i hated it i had my mum in a headlock, pulled the buttons off my partners shirt. I became abit hysterical at the end but jacob finally came out weighing 7lb 15oz.
A few hours later I lost alot of blood more than they thought. I remeber saying i feel faint i feel faint then 7people came into the room and i think i was injected with a few things a catherter put up me tubes and oxygen i was awake and could hear everyone but completely out of it. I could hear my partner crying i lost 3 litres of blood and had to have a transfusion.
Was hard for 2days i couldnt get out of bed or see to the baby but we have bonded now i breastfed for 3 days but still weak and faint and cant physically do it so had to forumula feed he seems more content and sleeps well.
I had no tearing so going to toilet was fine starting to feel not so numb and sore now
Its funny as i had exactly the same birth as my mother same pain relief and blood transfusion.
I will not be going through labour again!!!
