PLEASE DO NOT BE PUT OFF BY THIS
My story starts by going in for induction, which was a big, quick success...It was 4 hours after the pitocin gel that things started...it was a LONG journey afterwards.
Everything went fine up until I had the epidural...they put it in wrong place and I am so lucky I am still able to walk. My husband passed out I was in that much pain. They did it again and was successful. They left me for 4 hours.
My son tried to come down birth canal but kept going back up because they didnt put a cathetar in and my oversized bladder was stopping him from coming down properly. Once they drained my bladder, James came down but with his hand on his head. They didnt notice this until delivery.
His heartbeat kept dipping but they kept resetting the machine and walking out.
By the time I was ready to push, I gave one push and they stopped me and told me they needed to get him out fast. They decided to give me a Ventouse delivery. 3 big pushes later I had been ripped left right and centre, back, front, up and down, inside and out. Then they said they had to give me an episiotomy...was there anything else left to cut?! This was when they realised his hand was stuck so they had to pull his arm.
After he was out, they tried stitching me in the room but realised how much of a mess I was. I was losing a lot of blood and passed out. They took me into theatre to stitch me properly. After losing all that blood they considered a blood transfusion. They decided to "see how i felt in the morning"
In the morning...i felt like death. My husband requested that I have the transfusion, which they didnt get round to until the evening. By this point many other things had gone so wrong and I was very fed up of midwives and doctors not doing their jobs properly, I told them to leave me alone and let me go home.
Shortly after all this, I discovered that the maternity ward had "lost" my notes and still to this day (nearly 1 year on) they still cannot find them...not that they looked at them properly in the first place.
Having said all that...I probably wouldnt do things any different, I would still have an epidural. I would like to be induced again but I would hope I wouldnt get the same horrible treatment.
Good luck to anyone having babies, my experience is a rare one!
