Jealousy with older kids anyone?

My "baby" is 8, and will be 9 when little one arrives. THis pregnancy was a big shock to our whole family, I have 4 kids from age 8-16. Any tips on how to handle this? She was crying last night, saying she didn't want me to have a baby...it wasn't a bratty attitude either, she's really sad! Broke my heart I reassured her how much we love her and she'll always be special etc. etc, but truth is I'm scared too! Lol

Mine is only 19 months but I do worry about how this baby's arrival will impact her...

I'm right there with you. My "baby" is almost 6 and he is LAZY. He doesn't want to do anything for himself--including getting dressed--although he is quite capable. Asked him this morning to get an outfit and put it on and you would have thought I was killing him with all of the screaming. It's my fault, TBH, because I did too much for him up until this point.

No tips, really, but I understand. He gets sad about not being a baby anymore and about being the only boy. But, his rude awakening is coming soon, as I'm due in 2 weeks or so. I think he will get used to the idea, whether or not he wants to... Honestly, it might be good for him to find out that it's really not the end of the world to put on a pair of socks. And, I'm scared, too!!!

My daughter was 5 when i found out i was expecting my son. I let her know how lucky we were to have so many years just her and me as a lot of her friends only had a year or two. I flattered her about how much help she could give me and what a big responsibility it was to be a big sister. She adored her baby brother and it was beautiful to see her with him. They have there arguments now though 14 and 8!

My son is at the excited stage at the moment i am sure he will feel quite put out when this one arrives he is very demanding and stubborn. I have my fingers crossed it will all work out ok though.
