So i woke up on the Saturday 13th April at 41+1 with contractions about 10 minutues apart. This lasted all day until i had a bath at 6pm, and then they suddenly became 3 mins apart lasting 90seconds. I called L+D who said to go in, so we went in and they were become closer and closer and i really began to think this is happening so quick and they were so intense i must be like 7 cms. Got to Mat assessment and they examined me and i was only 3-4cms. So the Midwife said they will just put me on the monitor and then probably send me back home. I was having contractions every 1-2 minutes lasting over a minute and babys heartrate was high, possibly due to close together contractions. I was also vomiting everywhereee too. Due to this they whisked me off to delivery suite straight away where a doctor was already there who broke my waters. The contractions Massively increased in intensity and i lasted about half an hour before asking for epidural which i got straight away. My mum and OH had a sleep while i dozed (it was 10pm at this point) and then at 1.30am a new midwife came on who examined me and i was 10cm. She stopped the epidural for a hour so i could feel the contractions, and at 2.30am came back in. I was feeling intense pressure at this point, but the nice thing was i could feel my legs again so could push agaisnt them and position them. Began pushing and it was bloody hard work, but he finally made his apperance at 3.14am :) We were expecting a 7lber but he was 9lb2!! and i got a nasty 3rd degree tear so got a very brief hold and then whisked off to theatre where he stayed with daddy. All together a good, positive experience though, i didn't write a birth plan but would of liked a natural water birth and delayed cord clamping and skin to skin etc but things never go to plan!!

So meet Isaac Anthony Haslam, born 14/04/13 weighing 9lbs 2 and he is perfect. such a content little baby. We both can't stop staring at him!
