My OH is probably going to be paid off from his job next week  Im currently on maternity leave but usually work full time in the health service. Is my OH still entitled to job seekers allowance even though I am working or am I expected to keep him? Cant make head nor tail of jobcenter website. Thanx

When applying they ask questions about partners and i think they expect you to keep him depending on your money... as you are a couple

xx

If he has worked enough in the last 3 years he will be entitled to Contributions based job seekers allowance. This only lasts for 6 months though. If he's not entitled to JSA contributions based then he won't be entitled to any money if you work over 16hours a week. If they say no though, it's worth him signing on anyway, as they will put him on something called "credits-only" JSA, which means that in the future when he comes to draw his pension all his National Insurance contributions will be up to date xx

^ I thought the partner had to be working over 24 hours per week for the unemployed person to be denied JSA.

xx

it may be diff as ur on matt leave call n ask hun xx

Think you might be right. The 16 hours is something to do with income support I think. Sorry xx
