Just thought I'd announce that Logan Sion Barnard was born via ELCS on 06 March 2013 at 09h05. I actually went into labour the previous evening, but hadn't progressed very far, and as we were both doing well, we went ahead with the elcs as planned.
The spinal was amazing. I barely felt a pinch when the local anaestethic was used, and didn't feel the spinal at all! However the section itself was not so wonderful. I felt the first incision. Then my dosage was upped. Everything went well until they started pushing and pulling, I could literally feel my flesh tearing. I started begging them to stop, but before I could tell them I could feel it, there was a push, and a pop and a grinding feeling as his head came out, and Logan was born!
He had a good strong cry, and went off with his dad to be weighed and measured. He weighed 3.27kg (7lbs and 3 oz) and measured 50 cm (19"). He scored a 9, 9 and 10 on APGAR. They stitched me up while he was being sorted, and gave him to me in recovery.
Then it got scary. He started grunting and was taken to NICU. It turned out he had congenital pneumonia and has to stay in ICU for 5 days.
I'm being released today and am quite sad about it. Hopefully I will have my little man with me soon!
