Im helping a very close friend who has had a hellish few months claim jsa...she is really unhappy with the decision they made regarding her jsa...they have informed her she can appeal the decision...

Has anyone experienced this? If so did you appeal and was successful?

In need of some inspiration xx

What was her reason for being rejected? I guess the likelihood of her appeal might depend on the reason?

I was refused but I didn't appeal xxx

As far as I know she hasn't been rejected but they have refused to backdate it...when it was there fault! xx

Ah, I'd imagine she'd be successful then if she does appeal and has evidence for not being paid and being entitled to it. Sorry I read it as rejected xx

Hello, I appealed an income support decision for similar reasons - wouldn't backdate it and was their fault. i won my appeal. I had to go to a tribunal which was basically a meeting with a woman who made a decision there and then. not too difficult or scary. If she has kept all the paperwork and generally keeps good records should be fairly easy to appeal.

I had a similar thing where they didn't backdate it for me.

I appealed & lost, & then they sent me a letter stating I could go to a tribunal if I wanted to appeal the appeal lol. I didn't bother as I'd found another job already & didn't want the hassle.

A month later I got a letter saying that a tribunal was held in my absence (as I hadn't replied) and I was successful! Plus a cheque for £800..... No wonder the country is on it's knees lol. Probably cost them more to hold the tribunal that I didn't even ask for!

I think your friend should be ok if it really was their error.

Good luck
