I went to my OBGYN on Friday last week to get my annual and to talk to him about not being able to conceive for the last 8 months or so. I had tracked my ovulation, cycles everything. This was the first time I had been to him, but I had been going to my annual since I was 18 years old. He gave me an ultrasound and that's when he discovered I had a cyst 5 times the size of my ovary. Its still undetermined which ovary its on, if not on both. He told me that more than likely its PCOS all though they wouldn't rule out a thyroid problem until my blood work came back. I am scheduled for surgery on Wednesday in hopes that it wont rupture and to try and save as much of my ovary (or ovaries) as they can. The Dr. said he is going to try and perform the surgery laparoscopically but he is leaning towards opening me up at my bikini line. The surgery itself I am prepared for I just don't want to wake up to bad news. I realize that many women have this condition and its absolutely treatable but you can't help but worry. On one hand I am relieved to know why I haven't been able to conceive but on the other I'm nervous. My husband is coming home from Afghanistan in March so hopefully by then I will be on the mend and able to start trying.
So who else out there has had a cyst removal? PCOS Treatment? Clomid? Any words of advice? I'm so happy this website exists!
