Hey girlies,

My name is Jaime and im 23 and been ttc for awhile and nothing was happening and had irregular periods so doctor sent me to get blood test and scan done .Got results today and was told scan was clear but my hormone levels were imbalanced and i have PCOS  and i have been put on metformin.Just in a bit of shock.
And wondering is there anyone who just found out to ?
Or any success stories on ttc with pcos?

Hi Jaime,
Well you'll find lots of us PCOS sufferers on here and lots of success stories too! You're probably feeling overwhelmed at mo. though! I would suggest getting yourself a book to explain the condition and ways in which it can best be managed. I used Managing PCOS for Dummies and liked it because it was simply laid out with chapters that you can dip in and out of but am sure others may have further recommendations. PCOS can make the TTC journey a difficult one but you'll find lots of support here. Wishing you all the best and if you have any questions just shout or feel free to PM me :hugs:

Hey you,
I found out only last Friday that I too, have PCOS.
I was really upset but also a bit pleased to have found a reason as to why I have little to no menstrual cycle. Theres so much they can do to help and you are not alone.
As Fitzy said, theres loads of us on here with it and its good to share stories.
Bady dust to you x x

I have had pcos for 2 1/2 years been on metformin since then too just last month she tripled my mg and this month according to FF i have o'd just 3 days ago so at least it seems to be helping...good luck to you

Thanks so much for the comments girls. Have a question did you's have any side affects from taking metformin and if so how long did it last

Im not on Metformin - ive been given Norethisterone and Clomid but lots of others on here are on Metformin so hopefully someone can help :-)

Hiya! I've also got PCOS, but I'm thankful that at least I know what's "wrong" with me. It must be so hard not knowing.
I'm on Metaformin. I've been on it for nearly 3 weeks now. I did feel really sick all the time, but for me that has gone away, unless I haven't eaten enough before I take my tablets. How much have you been prescribed? I take 4x 500mg a day, I worked my way up to taking the full amount over a week and a half.

Good luck!

Hey i kinda feel the same as you like at least i know whats wrong and can be treated. I have to take 2 x500mg for 2weeks and then go up to 3 a day .Not looking forward to the side affects :nope:

I know the side effects are crap but well worth it in the long run! Just keep thinking towards that :bfp: and you will get there!

Im such a wimp! I ended up taking 2 days off work because I felt so sick!:haha:
Im fine now though, just the clomid side effects I'm getting now! cant win hehe

hi .. i've just found out i have PCOS also .. i've been fighting a battle with the doctors for years i kept sayin there was something wrong and it was always blamed on my weight , i 2 have no cysts however i do have all the other signs...

i know how you must be feeling right now it still feels a little sureal to me xx

yeah i totally understand on the doctors and the weight issue .But i was like i know my body and i know something isnt right and i wouldnt leave until the doctor gave me a letter to get scans and blood tests done

Hey jai002
I'm similar to you too. My scans were clear but my hormones were defo. PCOS. So I'm also on Metformin. Taking 2 x 1,000mg now. No more side effects, but I do find that I get more hungry easily. So I have to eat small snacks in between.

What's your hormone levels? I've got elevated Androgens and LH levels. But Metformin has been bringing it down. My Androgens are "normal" now but my LH levels are still high, though its lower than it was before. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will help.....

Hey cheerios,

All the doctor in the hospital told me was that my testosterone is 3.2 and should be 2 or under or something like that didnt say anything else about my hormones also had a blood test done for my thyroid. I have an appointment with an endocrinologist next month so see what happens . Started taking my tablets today and seem ok . When did you start getting side affects?

I found out I have PCOS earlier this month, after going private for ICSI. Before that my regular GP's insisted I didn't have it, that it was my weight causing the irregular cycles :growlmad: Losing 5st didn't make a difference, anyways... bit of a shock for me too, so I can understand how you feel :hugs: I'm also on Metformin, 850mg, twice a day. For the first week I was mega tired, headaches, feeling sick/dizzy, upset stomach and uncomfortable stomach pains, almost like trapped wind. It's eased up a bit but every now and then I feel bad. Sometimes I feel really queasy after I've eaten... I work lateshift and find i feel bad if i eat food late. Lost half a stone in the first week but it seems to have stopped now. The first side effect i noticed was upset stomach... about two or three hours after eating.

i just hope side affects arent to bad .i also just started the low gi diet so hopefully that helps fingers crossed :)

have any of you ladies lost weight with the metformin??

as for the doctors i was there every week but none of them took me serious as there's big women in the family that is down to thyroid issues tho i think more than anything xx

Hello,

I am currently having tests for suspected PCOS. I've had day 2 and day 19 blood tests (for progesterone I think) which I've been told are normal, but I didn't get told numbers or anything. It's a bit weird that I had day 2 and 19 bloods as everyone else I've read about has day 21! *shrugs*

Anyway, I went for a scan a week last Monday and had to have an internal one too. the radiographer wouldn't say anything really, except I'd have to wait for the blood results before making another appointment. I presumed that means she found something, but so far haven't had my scan results back.

Just wanted to post and offer my support. Will no doubt be back when I get my results, hopefully later this week!

x
