OMG I have just found this while researching getting preggers while BFing

Conceive While Breastfeeding
Most people think that you can't get pregnant while breastfeeding, that the process of lactating keeps a woman from ovulating. However, plenty of mothers of twins can disprove that theory. Some research has supported the theory that the chance of twins or multiples is increased if a woman conceives while breastfeeding.

 Hope this is all lies, any one experienced this?

p.s sorry if it needs moving

Hiya.....loads of great bf and fertility advice here.....really worth a read!

https://www.kellymom.com/bf/normal/fertility.html

I think the twins thing is a bit of an urban myth & scare story, but in general, bf is a good contraceptive if you know what you are doing with it, but not as a fall back! Hope you are OK....either way! xx

i was defo more fertile whilst BF  i think the twins thing is a myth thho - i was high risk for twins (13 sets on mum's side) and no twins for me!!

I still havent had my :witch: My OH was like lets get trying now for the next but i cant

I got pregnant while breastfeeding Toby (he was about 5months when I got preggers) and yep....it was twins but I lost one at 7wks:cry:. Erin was born 3 weeks early and there is a 14month age gap:happydance::happydance::happydance::happydance::happydance::happydance::happydance:

Needless to say, Erin is 4 months old now and we are quite strict about using contraception:rofl:

where the people who got preg exclusively breastfeeding? we havnt used anything but I havnt had a period and dont think I am preg, I would know after last time. I wouldnt mind but does it stop you being preg.

The thing about breastfeeding is that you never know when you will start ovulating. So even if you haven't got your period yet...you ovulate two weeks before your period is due---seems risky to me.

It really is hit or miss with getting preg while exclusively bfing... I know people (IRL) who got pregnant within 3 months of giving birth while exclusively bfing. They also had not had any period at all.

No matter how much you try and look for signs of fertility, you cant be 100% sure... Heck even bc pills and other methods are not 100%, many of us ladies with babies are proof of that.

I would say if you ok with the risk of getting pregnant while bfing and the risk of having a baby so soon, then go for it. But if there is any doubt that you want a child so soon after one, then you should look into other methods of contraception.

Hevz was EBFing

Yep....and a girl that used to live on my road breastfed for a few months and went to the Dr's when her baby was about 9months coz she'd still not had a period.....she was 20wks pregnant and already had 2 kids. I can't believe she didn't know but I never noticed the bump on her either:dohh::rofl:

I may do a test in the morning just to be sure. I have no idea when I ovulate as I havnt had a period in over a year now.

i was breastfeeding exclusively! she didnt have formula til i found out i was pregnant. my milk was drying up tho which i dunno was whether it was drying up before i got pregnant or if i got pregnant and it dried up cos of that!

We are currently NTNP (only been 2days). Really not getting my hopes up but I had my first af since giving birth a couple of weeks ago
