I just had a diagnostic lap done today and lo and behold, they found nothing just like I figured. Perfectly healthy insides. All perfectly normal hormone tests ovulation, everything. Hubby's getting stuff done with a urologist and he's no too bad off, just needs a vein dialated to help with sperm production.my question is: for those of you who have had an easy time in their laprascopic with nothing to remove (aka no endo, no cysts, nothing removed) was your recovery time short because of this? I run and lift weights and would like to have as short a recovery as possible. My dr and the nurses were pretty vague and I'm going to call my dr first thing Monday but was wondering about personal experiences.

I had a lap done last July, similar to you they found nothing wrong with me which is good, oh had issue with SA. But his last test was good.

As for recovery, I reacted a bit to the general anethestic and was in a lot of pain afterwards, hubby took good care of me.

You just need to rest and build up a little at a time. I went for a little walk each day. I did read other peoples experiences and some were fine in a few days, I guess everyone is different. Took a while for the wounds to heal, stitches came out after a week, but takes time for the muslce to repair it's self so still felt twinges weeks afterwards and occasionally can still feel something now around the scar on my belly button.

I did read that your fertility increases for the 3 months afterwards, as I think the dye test clears things so may help. Wishing you a good recovery and good luck with everything!

Thanks! I was totally fine yesterday- no soreness or pain- today just a little crampy/gassy from my the gas and my abdomen being blown up
I guess. My incision points are tender, so I'm taking it easy till that tenderness/sensitivity at the incision points goes away. I haven't had any of my Vicodin yet- that's a good thing! My nurse said something about massaging the scars to prevent scar tissue? Anyone had any experience with massaging..bc right now the belly button and abdomen are too tender to massage much!

Hey. When I had my Diagnostic Lap, they didnt find what they were looking for. Didnt find anything fertility wise (but I wasnt trying really, just had major abd pain they thought was maybe Endo but was something completely dif). Anyways, they did remove my Appendix because it was 3times normal size (however no signs of inflammation when they sent it for pathology, No Idea why it was so big lol). My recovery time was 3-4 weeks before I could return to work since I have to be able to lift 50 pounds. Its less if they didnt remove anything! But you should prob call the surgeon and ask when u can return to normal activities! Good Luck!

Did anyone bloat after surgery? I loved my abs yesterday they were so defined- today.. A puffy hot mess! Is that from the gas do you think?

Its prob from the gas! It happens with my patients ALOT! I bloated quite a bit too. Not as much as after my gallbladdwer removal!

Hi there-

I had a lap in January and they removed endo..I took 4 days off from work afterwards but could have gone back after two.

Within a week's time I was back to feeling like myself and at my two week apppt my doc cleared me to begin running again. I felt better before 2 weeks but I wanted to wait to get clearance before I started exercising so as not to damage myself!

Best of luck to you!! My doc said even if they dont find anythng during a lap your fertility increases for 3-6 months after because the tissues they from your uterus promotes the uterus to grow a new lining and be more receptive to eggs. So even though they didnt find anything during your surgery, dont lose hope!!

xoxo

Thanks for the advice! Looks like it all turned out for you! :)

Thanks for this thread. I'm reading up on laps, as I'm likely having one in 2-3 weeks. The one thing I will definitely add, based on my own experiences with working out and injuries, is that the easiest way to prolong the time needed for recovery is to push things too far too soon! Better to be a little conservative at the onset than to risk interrupting the healing process. Been there done that. :dohh:

I had a lap and dye 17th may 2011 I was fine and nothing was wrong , I was back to normal in about a week, and got my bfp 31st may 2011 the very same cycle , good luck

I hope you don't need it! It wasn't bad at all, but of course a bfp would be better. I've been walking our dogs a lot the past few days with no pain. My stomach just feels a little less "stable" if that's the right word. I haven't been bad, just mainly bloated/sore at times. It's really not a bad procedure, I just wish my dr didn't require it to move on to other things especially bc we all knew we were most likely dealing with (as the urologist says) male factor sub fertility. But it was covered by insurance bc my dr is trying to put everything as "diagnostic". So, a few days off will hopefully help me appreciate running/lifting/exercising all the more. If you have any questions let me know, I had a TON before/after and just had to google a bunch. Personal experiences makes me feel better!
