A little background info: I am roughly 5 weeks pregnant and due to low hcg levels my doctor thinks I have an ectopic pregnancy. So, I saw the doc this morning and she said go back in a week, I then went off to work.........I started to get a dull ache in my back, but it wasn't really painful, so thought everything was fine, but then a few hours ago my right side from the waist, down to my toes went numb and then this pain shot straight through me.....I was seeing stars no lie......my oh rushed over and took me to the hospital......the doctor has pressed on every inch of me, but we can't pinpoint the exact spot that the pain is coming from in my abdomen/hip area and we cannot find the baby ANYWHERE......she is now certain it's ectopic....I was put on a drip for the pain, but it hasn't fully worked but I've got tablets as well and providing it doesn't get worse or there is no blood I have to return Monday to discuss the options....but I don't understand what this pain is, where it has come from and where the heck is the baby!???? Anyone experienced anything like this before? Thank you in advance xxx

I also posted this in the first trimester thread, but thought it couldn't do any harm posting it twice....maybe ill receive more info that why :-)

When you say they can't find the baby anywhere, do you mean they have done and ultrasound and there is no sign of a gestatonal sac or foetus in the uterus?

I had an ultrasound at 5+2 with no sac, no pole, no yolk, no nothing besides a thickened uterine lining. I'd also been having one sided cramping so they were concerned about ectopic.
Anyhow, at 6+4 I had another ultrasound and there he was, heart beating away! I'm now 31 weeks with a healthy baby boy, so don't be discouraged!

Yes, sorry I meant no sac or anything but keep saying baby :-) some of the ladies on the other thread have said that it sounds like a sciatica because I can't pinpoint the pain and because it's through the leg.....today I just have pins and needles so I think they are right, although I was so scared with it actually happened....I had no idea a nerve could cause so much pain......I have another scan next week so maybe we will see something then....fingers crossed :-) thank you for the messages x x
