hi ladies. i thought it was about time i headed over here and said hello. :hi:

im 30 weeks pregnant with my first baby and will be a single mummy.

i guess my story is quite different to most of you, i actually planned to be a single mummy.

i have wanted to start a family since i was about 18, but concentrated on getting my career (nurse) and waiting for mr right to turn up.

well im still waiting! i thought i was getting close with my ex, we were planning on moving in together, marriage and babies, but then he turned around and said he needed to move away for his career and i had always said i would never leave my family, so we split and he is now in germany!:dohh:

so i thought sod it, im not gonna wait any more and live with this empty feeling and decieded i was going to go it alone (well not quite, i have an amazing supportive family and friends support network)

so i found a donor and got lucky on my 3rd month of trying. i keep in contact with the donor letting him know how things are going and when my son is old enough he can get in touch with him.

i cant wait to have my son, and know there will be difficult times ahead, but hopefully you ladies can coach me through them.

wow, Amazing, your so strong! Thats good you let the donor know how things are going, congrats!

Wow! Thats pretty cool! Youll be an amazing single mum! :flower:

Just wondering though... you dont have to answer heehee, but do sperm doners have a 'right' to know their children? Like if you chose not to update him, would that be ok legally?? Sorry i was just curious and wondering :flower:

i think as this was a private arrangement and i used fresh sperm then technically he would have rights and i could technically persue for child support, there is a contract that you can use from the website that puts you in touch with the donors but we never bothered.

i truly felt so comfortable with my donor that didnt feel it was needed, he knows i wont persue for financial things just as he wont push to see the child, he is happy to have pics and the child get in touch when he is older.

Good for u hun, fair play to u. U seem like uv got ur head screwed on and know exactly what ur doing. Good luck with the wee man when he comes along x

Ahhh thats cool! Sounds like your both good with it, and thought about it loads!! :flower: I guess it must be really different if you go to a sperm bank lol

i read that ;legally' the child only has a right if the sperm was frozen and from a sperm bank, it doesnt apply to fresh sperm thats why so many people are using fresh sperm and doing private agreements nowadays.

Sounds like you and the sperm donor are voth very happy and comfortable with the situation though which is good! :D

WOW congrats, you're so lucky....I'm sure you'll get sick of our FOB rantings  xx
