did any 1 stock up on milk b4 they had the baby by a few tubs i plan on using aptimill. and another thing i was thinking could you just use a carton an put it into a sterlised bottle for the nite time feed insted of having to get up and make a bottle just a little idear i had thank uu :baby:

I bought one canister and had a couple of sample ones. I knew which one we wanted to use but just in case she turned out to have any problems with it I didn't want to overstock :)

We didn't have any powder before Joe was born as I planned to BF, so OH had to rush out and get some when he got home from hospital!
I'd say it's best to get a tub before the babie is born so you're prepared!

i bought a starter pack of cow and gate bottles like you get in the hosp so when i came home i didnt have to faff about straight away making up feeds as it was all there, it was only £15 for 12 and well well worth the money - i always used a sterilised bottle and carton with jack, well actually i bought steribottles lol for the night/out feeds - Lana is still having a bottle from the fridge at night, she only takes 5oz so it doesnt take long at night to stick it in hot water to take the chill off it but by the time she is on 8oz she will be on a carton for sure

Yeah I did, I bought the glass disposable bottles for while we were in hospital and another pack for the first 2 days we were home.

But yeah I had around 6 tubs of formula in when he arrived

I'd planned on BF Amy but we switched to FF as I'd had a difficult birth and she wasn't latching on. Luckily my Mum had bought me 4 cartons of SMA milk, a big tub and a couple of bottles so we had something for the 1st few days.

We used to use the pre-made milk in cartons for the night feeds too. Once opened they can be stored for up to 24 hours in the fridge.

I planned to breastfeed Joe, so I had the sterilieser and bottles but no milk. I left the hospital at around 10pm at night and hubby had to rush to Tesco's the next morning at 7am cause Joe wouldn't latch on at all.

Next time I would defo have some cartons of milk or a tube of powder at home.

I bought 1 tub and 4 small cartons. You don't know how they're going to take to a formula, so that's all I got in, plus at that age, I think a tub lasted us 8 days to start with, so plenty of time to get to a shop lol. (now it lasts 5 lol)

thats mummys lots of helpp its all confuzzling

i planned to BF but niall wouldn't latch on...luckily we had bought a box of pre made up formula 'just in case' I wouldn't recommend stocking up as some formulas don;t work for some babies...aptamil made niall vomit across the room while sma never filled him up - can be a bit of trial and error so I wouldn't waste your £. Get a tub / premade aptamil as that is your intended brand and see how you get on

good luck hunni

I brought a tub of SMA gold 1 just in case cos I was planning to bf, bf for 3 days in hospital but exhausted from traumatic c-section I just wasn't up to it plus they were topping him up with formula but gave the tub away to a friend when I found out lo was put on special formula which we get on prescription. Laways a good idea to have a backup
