I went in for my scheduled induction on Dec 9 at 41 weeks 1 day.. I had noticed some cramping and loss of my plug for a few days prior so I was happy for the slight progression. I was 3 cm dilated when I arrived at the hospital and was then given the gel to help speed things up. The contractions started coming really steadily after only a few hours. The stupid nurse told me it was only pre labor and they couldn't give me anything for the pain. I insisted it was unbearable when the midwife arrived so she checked me and I was 8 cm and told it was too late for an epidural! Luckily I persuaded them to give me one, it did help with some of the pain, but by that point the pressure was killing me.. I asked for numerous breaks throughout the pushing process which resulted in a longer than necessary labor. It was worth it though in the end. Our perfect little Keira Samantha arrived at 4:09 pm on Dec 10 weighing in at 7 pounds 13 ounces. I did receive a 4 th degree tear which seems to be healing nicely. It is so uncomfortable to sit for long periods of time though..
