Hi everyone,
this maybe a long winded story but I really would like some advice.

my previous pregnancy was not plain sailing and I am really nervous this time around. bit of history I've had several loop surgeries and a cone biopsy on my cervix due to cin 3 cells. During my last pregnancy I was reffered to a specialist because of that and other complications. But my cervix was to shrt at 19wks to put a stich in other than to go from a outside root I didnt take the risk and had a few complications along the way.. Does anyone know when a stitch is usually placed im awaiting a specialist appointment.

next I was strep B in my last regnancy so I had the meds during labour, my son was born with a colapsed lung and had problems does strep b carry through into subsiquent pregnancies.

lastly I have kidney problems my left one failed 11 years ago and my right one is ishy at best. Has anyone got any advice at all to help maintain my weight to lessen the pressure or any hints tips advice at all would be great.

thanks ladies xx

Hun, im sorry youve had a difficult experienence.

I can only answer on strep b. firstly, it is transient in nature so it can come and go, but potentially you can always have it.It may be worth getting a swb at 34weeks to see if pos at that point. dont do it nay earlier as you may get a neg result only to develop it later on....34 weeks is a pretty good guide as to whether you will have it during labour, and any later may be too late to get the results before baby is born! Usually hospitals wont medicate until you have risk factors ie high temp, lengthy rupture of membranes, or prom /and or a prem bubs. Oral antibiotics will reduce colinization at time of administration however once a carrier always a carrier it cannot be completely cleared as lives in the intestines/birth canal as good bacteria. It is only a small percentage of weak babies that are affected. I dont know what circumstances ur bubs was born during, but as he had a collpsed lung (was this infection/or prematurity) and given your history of maternal problems it may be wortyh you requestioning IV's again. They do not routinely test as too many women carry it!!!!! Just to reassure you slightly, and many never know they have given birth with it! It can cause uterine infection also, but this is rare.

I have had three babies and tested pos on 2...never had anti b's and all babies have been healthy. My last baby had a suspicious sepsis at 8weeks ish but this is classed as late onset and not from mum, plus lumbar was inconclusive so i will never know!!! i WILL BE HAVING A HOME BIRTH THIS TIME AS LABOURS VERY SHORT, AND AM AWARE BUT NOT OVERLY CONCERNED ABOUT STREP! It is good to think about it hun, but sounds like you have alot going on, so try to put this to the back of your mind as forwarned is forarmed and in this situation it it rarely a killer.

Look out for mottled skin in bubs
High/low temp...both as important
cold hands and feet
grunting
poor feeding
ANYTHING OUT OF CHARACTER IN YOU OR BABY!!!

I really hope you get some good advice regarding the cervical and kidney issues and am sorry i dont have any advice for you on these issues too, but am sure there are loads of ladies out there who will. Sending you lots of hugs, and best wishes for a healthy pregnancy. x x x x x x x x x x x x

Hi hun. An elective Stitch is usually placed at 12wks. I can vouch for its success since I just had twins at 38wks with a stitch placed at 12wks. They were 9 and 7Ibs, so it really did the job under massive pressure. I wouldn't embark on a pregnancy now without one.

Good luck - and get in touch if you need any further advice x

thanks for taking the time out to message me. I am worried but I have to wait for the specialists before I know what the next step will be.

the info posted here is fab my son was born at 38 wks so he should have been find I'd even had steroids at 28 weeks when I went into early labour. So really im still none the wiser as to why he had problems hes a healthly boy now.

the stitch thing was something the doc wanted placed but I was to far at 19 wks and my cervix was flat so I was told for future pregnancies to see them sooner.

Ive heard about the clamp method now through a friend so maybe that is an options.

thanks again ladies xx
