Kinda Disappointed ...

So i went to my first appointment today and was expecting a blood test, pelvic exam, blood pressure and all of that....

No, all i did was talk about family history...
so although I've been told by the lady at the health department that i might be farther along than we expect...
i don't have another appointment till October...
So Right now my due date is April 24, 2011.
Does anyone else happen to be around the same time?

Sorry hun, the first appointment seems to be disappointing for everyone they arnt really bothered until after you have been for your scan. Have you got a scan booked? xx

Well i have an appointment on Oct. 6th She said then that one we will do a ton of tests and an ultrasound. so I'm really looking forward to that appointment... i just wish it was sooner!.

Yeah, I think it just depends on your doctor, at my first appointment I had blood work done, an ultrasound, and talked with the doc about family history. Once you get further along the appointments get more fun because you get to hear the heartbeat and all of that

my 1st appointment I heard the heart beat, and then got booked for an ultrasound and I was 13 weeks along.

At my first appointment I had weight and height done, talked about family history, looked for baby's heartbeat (no luck then though, tilted uterus), we figured out how far along I was by dates (12 weeks) and then they sent me for both a blood and urine test.

I think it does depend on how far along you are, or think you are, and what your doctor decides to do. My first appointment with this second pregnancy, the first appointment with my doctor I was about 6 weeks, so we just talked and they booked me in to see the midwife and booked my scan (even though she said it was a little early for them to book me in, but saved me coming back in a couple of weeks to do everything then) Then my first midwife appointment, at 10 weeks, it was mostly talking, although they did take my bloods and my blood pressure, BUT they already had all my family history from my previous pregnancy. That bit was pretty boring.. I remember it well! It's always fairly dissappointing your first appointment, unless you're really far along. They do get better I didn't hear the heartbeat until my 16 week appointment. You look forward to them as you get further and further in your pregnancy

Yea i was expecting at least a blood test but no we just talked... i told her i had symptoms of pregnancy but still had a period. Then she asked how long they were and i told her they were shorter than normal then she was like well you might be farther along but we will see at the next appt. so i was like uhhm ok? lol

My first appointment had everything. Height, weight, blood pressure, a lot of blood tests, pelvic exam, ultrasound, etc. and i was 13 weeks. so i agree it all depends on the doctor and how far along you are, but I would have aleast expected you to have blood work done.

i am going to go in a few weeks but i will be demanding bloods and a scan, they are pretty good here in NZ

Heyy proudommtobe, I am in the same situation, due the 22nd, 24th according to my midwife.. i was expecting an hour long session and all she did was fill a form in , check my blood pressure and give me a book! I was SO upset, i rang my OH and my mum and ranted to them for ages... I'm wating for my scan date in the post now and it's driving me mad

Yeah i didn't even get my blood pressure checked.. just talked about family history but she said the next appt we will do alot. So im pretty pumped for that... just cant believe i have to wait till october!
