I am going to physically attack the next person who unsolicited asks the following:

1) Do I / we have children
2) Are we planning any
3) Do I not think it would be 'nice'
4) I should 'I would be a great wee mummy'

Ok rant over, normal service will resume! :flower:

I have come close to physically attacking ppl who ask these annoying questions. Dont know if I am extra sensitive to them cos I am having a hard time conceiving. Everything annoys me these days- pregnant women, ppl with babies, babies, news about ppl getting pregnant, celebs announcing their pregnancies...I even get annoyed when I think ppl are looking at DH & me and thinking why we dont have babies.

Haha- thought I will add to your rant

Well I had a full scale, slightly drunken breakdown at a recent family wedding! I had been asked by no fewer than 10 of my oh's family members, when we were going to have a baby. I thought I was handling it really well, until his gran asked what was taking us so long, and that she was upset we weren't having children, I ran off to the car park, and literally cried so hard I couldn't breathe. my mil came over and told me to stop being silly and that everything would be ok, which led me to scream in her face!! I have to say, I felt so much better for it!!

But seriously, I wish people would stop telling me if I relaxed it would happen! Erm, feck off!! I don't see how me relaxing will improve my husbands sperm count!!!

Huge hugs!

I finally got to the point where whenever anyone said something about why we don't have kids I would just smile sweetly and say, I'm currently undergoing fertility treatment, but thanks so much for reminding me that I'm childless and not getting any younger. Then I would just look at them. Usually they will get embarassed and apologize. I hope it stops them from asking anyone else.

I hate those sorts of questions to. I'm a primary school teacher, a job I've always loved, but is getting increasingly harder, small children, parents etc. I'm doing supply, and so constantly meet new people, and get asked the dreaded question..."Do you have any children?" Sometimes people just asssume I've got children, which is worse!! :growlmad:
I never know what to say, so I might try some of the responses on this thread!

:hugs:x

big :hugs: to all of you.

I generally just say no in a tone that says go on ask something else - I dare you!

I hope you don't mind but I'm going to steal this and use it for myself. I've been looking for a way to respond and this sounds perfect when I'm in that kind of mood!

It is so bloody frustrating.... why do people feel they have the right to ask us such personal questions!!!??? I'm really struggling with baby news at the moment, feel very selfish for feeling this way but I can't help it. I'm happy for them all but I just want to be pg too!!

I was at a funeral this week and met up with loads of distant family members.

First Question
Have you any family yet - No!!!!!

Next question
How long have you been married - 5 years

Well, i could almost hear the cogs in motion - yes thats right, there is a bloody problem and you should not have raised the subject ,thanks!!

I'm the same as Ermm. I just say we would love children but have problems. Most people look mortified!
But I'm sorry, if some people (especially women) don't understand that the subject of kids can be a sensitive one then they deserve it!
