Labetalol (beta blocker) tachycardia

Hi guys.
So i have POTS which is basically an orthostatic intolerance- when i stand my heart rate shoots up to anywhere between 115-160bpm. Then returns to below 100 (usually) when sitting.

Lately its gotten worse and im really struggling. Simple tasks like walking, hanging out the washing, making dinner etc have been a real challenge. Im constantly dizzy and 'foggy' aswel as headaches, palpations and various other symptoms.

Im seeing a new cardiologist in 2 weeks. And my ob suggested talking to him about a low dose beta blocker such as labetalol.. yes i know the risks- mainly low birth weight.. but i have 2 other kids and am struggling to care for them (or myself).

Has anyone used this medication for heart rate control? I know its usually for blood pressure.. how much did it lower your heart rate? Did it effect your BP much? My BP is already on the low side so i worry it would lower it too much..

Any advice?

So sorry to hear this. Vertigoheel works really well fr my brain fogginess and dizziness. It's homeopathic & safe in pregnancy.
I hope it'll settle.

Hi I'm on labetalol 200mgs 3x a day. I have pre exisiting hypertension so that's why I'm taking it. It does regulate the heart rate, but it lowers blood pressure a lot. When I first take it I get dizzy/head rush if I stand up from sitting. From what Ive heard it's used the most in preeclampsia and is meant to lower blood pressure quickly. I was on atenolol before pregant which lowered the heart rate more and less of the blood pressure.
