Hi ladies.... I wonder if anyone can give me some advice?

I recently had a scan performed by my gyne consultant where he discovered that my right ovary was distorted with 2 large endometrioma cysts and the ovary attached to my uterus. He also said my bladder was not functioning properly and that the bladder wall was irregular. Possible endometriosis in the bladder? I've been told that I may lose my right ovary :(

I am now booked in for a laparoscopy to remove the cysts and a cystoscopy to look into my bladder.
Anyone had this and can give me any advice on preparing for this? I'm very nervous as I've never had an operation before. Thanks :)

Hi hun
I've got severe endometriosis and had surgery to remove it twice.
Mine hasn't attached to my bladder but was attached to my bowel by the second surgery.
I was lucky in that they managed to leave my ovaries there (they were both covered in endometriosis and cysts) but they said if it comes back again they won't be able to save anything.

The surgery itself is fine, don't worry about that. I came out of surgery both times with a wound drain in which I wasn't expecting the first time, they never told me.

Just take things slowly afterwards. You will be sore but don't rush it.

When is your surgery?

Hi em.... Thanks so much for responding. I had my pre op yesterday so I'm now just waiting for a date....
I'm just a bit nervous, thanks for your reassurance.
I see from your signature you've had IVF.... Did you have a long TTC journey before the IVF??? :)

I've had lap twice, once 2012 and again 2013. Was very simple for me. They burned off several endo areas, cleared a blocked tube. The first time they removed a fibroid the size of my uterus. Both times I was sore, but nothing agonizing. The air pockets are the most uncomfortable for the first couple days but I was mostly back to normal a week after.

3 years in total. The first year was spent trying to get a diagnosis. Then the second year was 2 surgeries. The third was drugs to stop the endometriosis and then IVF.

I had my first surgery the end of March 2012, they said that it was really bad but to TTC naturally for 6 months. I saw a fertility consultant in the august, he scanned me and my cysts were back worse than before too bad for them to be able to do IVF. So had to have them removed surgically again. I got put on decapeptyl injections which basically put you in a menapausal state until I could have IVF.

Long journey but worth it. We are thinking about having IVF again if the endometriosis isn't back

Thanks girls.... It's really helped put my mind at rest.
Congratulation cookette on your pregnancy :)
Em.... That's such a long, frustrating journey! I'm glad that the IVF worked and you are blessed with your little girl.... So you now have regular checks to see if the endo has come back??? I know it is supposed to clear up whilst pregnant but I feel that I have just got worse since having my little girl, especially this last year :(

I just had a lap done last month to look for endometeriosis but they didn't find any but they did find my issues :( if u have questions I can answer them from my experience!

No I'm not under anyone now, no one seems to want to check up on me! Drives me mad!
I've moved across the country since having Hattie, and I've made an appointment to see a GP next week to be referred to a gynaecologist.
Feels like no one cares about my emotional wellbeing with all this
Em xx
