Hi everyone,

This is my first post in here. My DD is 4wks 5days old & for the 1st 3 wks we exclusively pumped until she eventually latched well so we've been exclusively bf for over a week now.

Iv been finding it quite tough, she feeds a lot at night & doesn't settle well after, I'm exhausted. I also have a 2yr old.

However, she was weighed today, she was last weighed 4 days ago & she's gained 6.5oz in that time, HV notes say 'large weight gain'.
I thought bf babies were meant to be smaller? Is this normal?
She was born 7lbs 10oz & is now 9lbs 6oz! Iv no idea what centile this is but just wondering if this is ok, should I still just feed her on demand? Change my diet?

Thanks in advance x

No that's perfect, well done! With newborns, more is definitely better.

Breastfed babies usually gain rapidly early on, it's not until 6 months that they tend to gain less than formula fed babies. X

Ahhh ok!

I was just worried it was too much, she's such a little chunk! :)

Thank you xxx
