Gonna be long sorry!
So, last week I had a lot of reduced movements so i was told to go into the assessment unit at the hospitall, went there on two occasions and they told me they'd have to do a scan to check on the baby. (She was fine and was measuring at about 9lb).
The next day (27th April) I had an appointment with my consultant and she done a sweep and said that my cervix was still really thick and I was 1cm. But, she decided that due to the fact I had quite a lot of reduced movements she booked me in for induction the following day.
So, on the 28th April 2012 I went into hospital for my induction.
*Got there at 11am and noticed I was losing plug, must've been from my sweep!
*2pm first gel...They said I was 2cm and my cervix was thinning, Started to get really mild pains after but nothing major and still very bearable.
*6pm- They start to get quite bad, so went for two walks around the hospital.
*8pm- Midwife checked, cervix had gone to 3cm.
They decided to wait for my contractions to calm down a bit before giving me the second gel because the first gel was making me contract too much without much happening to my cervix. .
*About 11pm I had the second gel, started to get REALLY bad pain about an hour later, so I asked for some pethidine which was good, but then all it really done was spread my contractions further apart, still I got no sleep that night and by 4am I asked for more pethidine and they gave me gas and air too, which OH MY GOD, is a godsend at that point!!! I was off my face :').
*Midwife change at about 8am she came in and said I was 4cm and could have the epidural if I want. I asked if I could wait a bit to try and eat some breakfast (which I couldn't) and then I was moved to the labour room to have my waters broken (about half 9/10)..
She checked me again at twelve and I'd gone to 7cm.. And then I had epidural, which didn't hurt one bit! Was amazing... After a while it did start to make me have a weird pain in my side which they tried getting rid of by putting drugs stronger than an epidural in..
*3pm checked again was 10cm
.
Started to push about half 4 as her head was literally there... Was pushing for about 2 hours all together (completely shattered from not sleeping since the night of the 27th!)
She said she would have to cut me a little bit which I got scared of.. But I didn't feel it and as soon as she done that the babies head fell out I felt the weird pressure of her shoulders, and they told me to give one more push to get the shoulders out but I didn't even have time to push! She just flung out. Then the pain just went..
She was placed on my belly but she wasn't breathing properly because of all the mucous on her chest so she was rushed off to the little baby bed. A lot of nurses and people came in which really scared me but they told me the baby was fine.
I had three stitches in my cut and I had a graze. Which to be honest is not hurting right now, didn't even hurt when I went for my first wee thank god!
All the pain i'm getting now is a dull ache in my lower back/bum from the epidural which is already settling down.
