ok i just wanted to know if this happens to anybody else?

when im feeding ffion off one side my other side starts to leak.. what a waste of milk!

also when ffion first latches on she gets overwhelmed with the flow of the let-down and she pulls away... meaning that the breast im feeding her from starts to spray everywhere! its so frustrating!

anybody any suggestions on how i can stop either of these from happening?

I ended up having to hold a pad over the other one whilst feeding her :dohh:

I used to get both of these!! The leaking on the other side has stopped now (apart from some mornings when he hasn't fed for hours), but if he decides to let go at the start of a feed he still gets a faceful of milk fountains

He's learnt to keep up with the flow now though, so it doesn't happen very often - only when he gets distracted and forgets that he can't smile and feed at the same time! It used to be pretty much every feed - he'd latch on, get too much and choke on it, let go and we'd have huge fountains across the room! (At first I was worried about wasting milk and kept trying to latch him back on mid-fountain..poor little man! Now I just use a breast pad or something to soak it up until it stops then put him back on) x

Feed her more upright if you can.

Here's some more information from a little while back...

And yah, the little turd slept a whole one hour, and then I'm up again ;)

Oh joy. If I didn't love her so much, I might be grumpy ;)

I'm attempting to head back there very shortly :)

That pic is what I was like for the first few months. I still often leak on the other side when she's feeding, I've found the most effective way of stopping it is to apply strong pressure to the breast (the nipple in particular) Also, you can get nipple shells in boots or mothercare that collect the leaking milk.

i also allways leak from my other breast whilst breastfeeding xx

I have this problem... Haven't found any way of stopping the overflow but I do now controll it with brestpads; I stuff two down my bra on the side I'm not feeding her with, and I hold another under the boob I am using, so that I have it at the ready to shove over my nipple when she pulls off suddenly, starting the boobie fountain!

Yep happens here, no adivce though sorry!!

xxx

I've never once had my boobs spray. I wonder why??? They do leak when I'm feeding out of the other boob, but that's about the only thing anything comes out except when she's eating. She's definitely getting enough because she's growing tons!!

i used to sit there with a cup over one boob collecting the milk and feeding from the other! must have looked like a right twit! or i used the breast shells to collect the milk and then put it in the freezer.

thia happens to me to i sleep with a towel on the bed as it just sprays every where and it sprayed him in the eye last night xx

When I move my nursing pad after I haven't fed in a couple hours and I let down my boobs spray in all directions lol.

lol I used to get that but usually Anna feeds too frequently now - get it in the morning, though or if I accidentally use the same boob twice and miss a feed on the other lol

That's a really good idea!

I have to sleep on a towel, too - Collects the overspray AND baby vomit - before I figured this out I was changing the sheet three times a night! :dohh: lol

I have this too - just keep a muslin close to hand and a pad on the other boob! It does feel like a waste though!

My mum said that when she breastfed me she used to use an old yoghurt pot to collect the milk squirting from the other boob. Kind of wish she hadn't told me as it sounds a bit sad... I was like couldn't you have used something other than "an old yoghurt pot"!
