I posted this question on the Baby Club, but nobody answered, so... 2nd trimester ladies...
Has anyone had horrible, painful, out-of-nowhere leg cramps that are especially bad at night but can come anytime?
Mine happen right behind my right knee. Always the same spot, same leg. It feels like lightning striking my leg. It hurts a LOT. This is not the typical "charley horse" cramp--I've had those before and they are NOT fun, but this is different. The first time I got these I dropped to the floor moaning. I can control myself better now, but it's still pretty extreme. Stretching doesn't seem to help. My calcium, magnesium, and potassium levels are fine. I don't have arthritis.
My doctor has NO idea what it is but basically just wants me to deal with it. It affects my sleep, my work, my mood, everything... I'll do anything!
Any ideas? Any similar stories?

Sorry, no advice but I didn't want to read and run. I'm sorry this is happening to you  I hope it resolves itself soon!!

Nothing helps for me except Tylenol but I am doing my best to avoid taking it.. I had this with my first pregnancy so it is not new for me. I am sorry wish I coUld help more but you are not alone.

Did it stop after you gave birth? I can't imagine dealing with this any longer than that! Did your doctor have any ideas what it could be?? Did it get better or worse in the 3rd trimester (please don't say worse!)?

Exercise seems to help temporarily.

i got cramps last pregnancy, and they just started again this pregnancy. i always get them in my right calf (weird!). the ONLY thing that helps me is to immediately get out of bed and put my foot flat on the floor. once the intense pain goes away, i'll flex my toes toward me knees for awhile until it feels better. hot baths also help! my cramps stayed until i gave birth, then they went away.

all my levels are fine, too, and the doctor doesn't know why i'm getting them. who knows? hormones are weird! :)

When I'd get leg cramps I'd eat a banana. It helped. I know it sounds weird but it worked every timeThe cramps went away after I gave birth.

Magnesium for leg cramps. Unfortunately a common symptom in pregnancy, i got it last time as well as extremely painful knees.
