Letrozole/Femera questions

Hi ladies,

After 3 mcs, I was finally diagnosed with adenomyosis. I also ovulate pretty late. My FS decided to try me on Letrozole next cycle in hopes of getting me to Ov sooner. I had a few questions for you wise women.

Did you experience any side effects?

Also, were you able to use your CBFM and/or OPKs while using the drug? I temp, but I'd also like to confirm an LH surge before I Ov. Is this possible?

Hi Amanda, I just wanted to let you know that I used letrozole for 3 or 4 months. I had hardly any side effects...especially compared to clomid. The only one I can remember is slight headaches. I told my Dr. about it and he seemed surprised since it isn't a typical side effect of the drug. I don't think I used OPK's while on this drug just because my Dr. monitored my follicles so I didn't really need to. I hope you have lots of luck with it.

Hi!I happened to see this and have some experience with femara so thought Id share

I took femara for 9 months.I started out on 2.5 mg and took that dosage for a few months and was then bumped up to 5 mg.I did not ovulate on the 2.5 but did with 5.With both dosages the only side effect I had was feeling a little lightheaded and sometimes had some hot flashes.NOTHING compared to clomid,which did nothing for me anyway.

I did use opks for a few months then switched to a cbfm.OPK's worked just fine and so did the monitor.With the opks I would get a surge 2 days before and part of the day OF ovulation.With my cbfm I usually got 2 highs and 2 peaks.One thing I experienced was a very definitive sensation when I ovulated.The month I conceived I didn't even use opks or the monitor because I was so sure of when I was ovulating and I did ovulate like clockwork once we got the dosage right.I took it cd 3-7 and ovulated cd 14 pretty much every month.

Thank you both. I really appreciate the input. I'm ovulating right now at cd 25. I'm so excited to try this drug next cycle. Ov'ing on cd 14 sounds like a dream! I'm starting on 2.5 mgs 2 times a day. I hope it does the trick! Thanks again.

2.5 mgs did the trick for me. I ovulated every month I was on letrozole, one follicle on each side right on time.
