My great grandmother fell and couldn't get back up on her own so I got behind her and put my arms under hers and picked her up! I will be 10 weeks tomorrow and didn't know what else to do! Will this hurt baby? I have no stomach pains or bleeding but I'm really worried! :(

It's VERY unlikely that you have done any harm to bubs, they are fairly well protected in there you know! Just make sure you get some rest and relaxation for the rest of today xxx

I am sure baby is fine. They are very well protected in there :hugs:

Xx

The recommendation to not lift is more to protect you that baby. When you're further on in your pregnancy, baby's weight puts a lot of strain on your pelvic floor etc. Lifting heavy on top of that can lead to unpleasant things like weakened pelvic floor muscles, strained muscles, haemorrhoids... Anyway, baby should be fine, especially this early on, so don't worry! Hope your great granny is ok as well!

Highly doubt it honey, try not to worry - baby is really well cushioned and protected in there!

I thought pg ladies were advised not to lift heavy loads later on because of the weight of the baby on your muscles/bones rather than the potential to harm the baby.

Really hope your great gran is ok xx

Thank you ladies a part of me wanted to wait for help to arrive but I couldn't just leave her on the floor. It's bad enough that she didn't call me until 9am that she was on the floor and couldn't get up she had been on the floor since 3am :( ....

Poor thing, I hope she wasn't badly hurt and gets well soon xx

Aw, poor thing...hope shed ok. I heard the same that lifting is more about you hurting yourself than the baby. Your muscle and joints weaken when you are pregnant and you can pull them much more easily. I stupidly lifted something heavy the other day and I somehow pulled a muscle in my chest...I learnt my lesson! Xx

My job requires me to lift boxes that can weigh up to 70 lbs. I have been comfortable doing this until recently and I am trying to ease off now not because of the baby - it's behind a thick bone wall, several layers of muscle, in a water balloon - but because my round ligaments are starting to soften and lifting heavy stuff HURTS. I know it's not damaging me or baby in any way though, it just is not pleasant.

Has your grandma considered one of those emergency buttons that pings 911 if something like this happens again? Because soon you belly will be in the way and you won't be able to lift her at all.
