Hi ladies,

About an hour ago I went to the loo and noticed a small amount of light brown spotting when I wiped. I've since been again and noticed some on my pant liner too.

I'm being practical and know that brown blood is better than bright red blood, and I'm not experiencing any other symptoms. Also lo is moving as normal. I also realise that it is probably just from over stretching somehow or lo shifting about, but I still googled it (I know...) and found this site which put the wind up me a bit https://www.women-health-info.com/670-Brown-discharge-during-third-trimester.html. Especially the first sentence :-(

I guess I'm looking for some reassurance that it's normal and not the end of the world. I havemyfirst anantenatal class tonight so well try and speak to the midwife too

Aw sweetie,,worst thing you could do is use google :( Your sure to find something that's the worst case scenario. Have you been to the doctor just to set your mind at ease? It's probably as simple as your cervical lining is starting the thin out in preparation for the baby and it's slowly bleeding causing the brown discharge...I'm not a doctor but with my last pregnancy this happened around 36 weeks and that's the explanation I got from my doctor...at that point I was 2 cm dilated. I ended going to 41+6 so it didn't mean the baby was coming early AT ALL lmao!

I had pink spotting at the weekend and went to get checked out. They said it was caused by cervical erosion.
Id recommend you go get checked for your own piece of mind. It's probably nothing serious but if you have -ve blood type you make need a shot if anti-d.

Thanks I've spoken to the midwife and she said she'd check me out after the class. I'm rhesus positive so don't need any shots (to my knowledge). Nothing the last time I wiped so fingers crossed that was it...

If I saw any blood at all the first thing I'd do is phone the doctor or go to the ER. You just never know what it is some ladies its completely normal and others its signs of preterm labor. I rather be safe than sorry! Good luck I hope it was nothing at all!

Thanks, seems to have stopped today. The midwife checked my blood pressure, bump and lo's hb and all fine. I've got the number of the nearest day centre, and have an appointment to see a maternity birthing pool unit at the weekend and my 31 week appt next week so plenty of opportunity to get checked again if needs be x
