So im a month late with this but here ya go...
So it was valentines day 2/14/13 around 9am, I was getting ready to go to the doctors for my weekly appt. Well I was sitting in my bed and felt a giant popping sensation. I thought I peed myself so I got up and ran to the bathroom and saw a bunch of fluid and clear mucus in my pants and yelled for my husband and said I think my water broke. Mind you I have no experience with this nor know someone whose water broke on its own. So we called a few family and friends to find out what happens if your water breaks.. they all said to call the doctors. So I did and seeing as how I had an appt in about an hour they said to just come in for my appt. Well we left right away and I ended up sitting in the waiting room longer than I thought they would have me, I thought when I got there they would take me back right away.. nope. So when they finally did the nurse acted like it was a normal appt. She didn’t realize I was the one she was waiting for. So they got me into a room and the doc performed that strip test thing and confirmed my water did break. She than checked my cervix and I was already 5 cms dialated, the previous week I was at 1- 1 1/2 cms. I tested positive for strep B so she said I had to go over to the hospital immediately we had to get 2 rounds of the antibiotics in me before I could deliver my baby. So the doctor walked us over to the hospital right away and took us thru the back entrance and got me settled in before going back to her office. I’m glad the hospital is right behind my OB/GYNO office. So after all the cords and pre tests and everything was done we got to make phone calls and let mine and my husbands work know we wont be there and to let my mom know that my water did break and to come to the hospital. Than we had to call my husbands mom who wanted to be there so badly that the minute we told her she left Michigan and drove down to Tennessee where we were (which is a 9-10 hour drive in good weather) . Well we started the antibiotics and at about 3 pm they started pitocin because I still wasn’t getting contractions. Oh boy did they start after that, but I do admit the contractions were not nearly as bad as I thought they would be. Babys heart kept dipping after every contraction and my doctor didn’t like that so when we hit 9 cm all I had left blocking they thought was a small wall, and they assumed that when I started pushing it would just go. Baby only handled my contractions okay when the doctors hand was up in my cervix. The doctor put her hand up there to try to stretch my cervix open more manually. It didn’t work, it hurt more than the contractions did. I should know they had to turn down my epidural so I could feel the contractions in order to push. I couldn’t feel that pushing feeling I was supposed to. So after all that my mother in law calls us and they are right down the road, they made it literally just minutes from me starting to push. My mother in law is convinced my baby was waiting for her. So with legs up we started pushing, with every push I thought I was going to pass out. I did not do well with pushing, doctor said my pushing was great just baby was not handling them well. After a while of pushing the doctor gave me the option to keep trying or to have a c section, and at that point I pushed to keep on trying. Than after no more progress we all decided baby needed to be born. So at 2:56 am on 2/15/13 Lillian Rayne was born via c section. If it wasn’t for me laying on my back trying to keep from throwing up, I cant handle oxygen from that tube they give you from your nose (it makes me violently sick), I would of busted out crying the minute I heard her crying and saw her little cone headed behind. She was absolutely perfect to me even with all that gunk on her lol. I wanted to so badly to hold her but they had to take her away really fast. She was having trouble breathing and they had to put her on oxygen she was on that for the first 3 days and than they got her onto high pressured room air and than off completely by day 5… Her oxygen stats kept dropping and that was the scariest thing because if they did I was told she may have had to been transferred to another hospital, but my little bean decided she wasn’t going there and she got better by day 5 and we were both cleared to go home.
