Well ladies il start by saying my little girls birth was a very long induction story so il try not to ramble on too much!
I had 3 admissions to my maternity day assessment unit with reduced fetal movement, my last admission i was 38+3 days which is when they decided baby would be happier born so wanted to induce me the next day... i was told to ring at 8am in the morning for a time to come in...
So after a very nervous restless nights sleep i rang up at 8am and they asked me to come in for 11am, brilliant
Had a few obvservations done (bp,temp,baby heart trace) etc and i had a 24 hour pessary inserted at 1pm and told i wasnt at all dilated but very soft.
Had a few mild contractions throughout the day but nothing major.
9pm came and i went to the toilet and noticed the pessary had fallen out so i informed my midwife who said she would insert another, but upon examination she said im already 2cm dilated so no longer needed the pessary and they wanted to break my waters once there was a free bed on delivery suite, YAY!
Morning came and i was still waiting
No beds available and not enough staff, the day DRAGGED, by 9pm they finally told me they had a bed free so i called my birthing partners (mum and OH)
Off we walked to delivery... few more observations etc and they then gave me and internal to try and break my waters only for the dissappointment to be told they werent able to break them as i wasnt quite 2cm so they inserted a 6 hour pessary and sent back to the ward to be checked in 6 hours
6 hours finally passed and i managed a little sleep and now i was FINALLY ready for my waters to be broke!
Arrived at delivery suite at 7.00, waters were broken at 7.30am
Started having contractions INSTANTLY, within half and hour i already needed the gas and air as they were getting pretty intense!
My contractions became more regular and stronger and at half ten i was examined and told i was 5cm (at this point i started crying saying i couldnt handle waiting any longer so asked for pethadine)
I then tried distracting myself on facebook lol one of my statuses actually reads "ouch ouch fuckidy ouch"
Anyway it was about twenty past 11 and i physically couldnt handle the pain anymore i started to become slightly agressive asking for an epidural but the midwifes kept telling me no as i was showing signs of being near ready to push, i started swearing at my mum saying how fed up i was why couldnt they just give me an epidural, i then moaned i wanted a poo!
As my leg was lifted up i instantly began pushing and within 3 minutes my little girl was born at 11.32
i had gone from 5cm to her being delivered in an hour!
i really strongly advice any pregnant ladies to LISTEN to your midwifes when they tell you to STOP pushing and BREATHE, i ignored them and just pushed pushed pushed only to end up with an internal tear and a tear on my labia needed stitches and i am SO SORE!
My little girl who was predicted by a midwife to be nearing if not OVER 9 pound as my son was 9lb 8 only weighed a dinky 6pound 11oz!
Im over the moon and she is a little angel!
