What is your LOs eating routine? When do they have milk/food? I worry my LG is constantly eating. She's 7 1/2 months old and her routine is as follows:

6:30 - breastfeed
8:15 - weetabix
11:00 - bottle of 5oz (doesn't drink it all)
12:30 -1:00 - lunch
3:00 - bottle of 5oz
4:30-5:00 - tea
7:00 - 6oz bottle

I don't know whether to drop that 11 o clock feed and offer her a fruit snack. I've tried this today and she's been ok, a bit whingey, but has been whingey the past three days anyway so not sure it's because she's hungry for milk. I know all babies are different but would love to hear others' routines!

I feel like my guys are constantly eating too. All day! They sleep really well at night (12-13 hours), so I just assume that they need to stock up all day so they're prepared for their evening hibernation. :) At the age your LO is at now, this was our schedule:

7:30am – wake up & milk
8:30am – breakfast (solids)
10am – nap
11:30am – milk
1pm – lunch (solids)
3pm – milk & nap
5pm – dinner (solids)
6:30pm – milk & bedtime

Good luck, mama!

Depending on how much she is eating at mealtimes I don't think this is too much, if she is happy to have a snack rather than milk at 11 but still fussing then maybe she is thirsty and having the milk for hydration rather than hunger, do you offer lots of water throughout the day?

Thanks for your routine calitwins, yours isn't too far off ours. She naps at 9, 12 & 3 for around an hour each time too, then the food works out either before or after her sleep. They're just rough times.

She's going through a leap today so has been overly whingey so it's hard to know if it's hunger or not. She didn't drink more milk than usual after not having her 11am one, she took 5oz at 2, & only 4oz at bedtime (which she's been doing the last week). She sleeps through 11-12 hours too so maybe you're right with filling up. Yeah she has her beaker with her regularly, she loves water and often takes sips whilst playing.

This was my lgs routine too and i cut out the afternoon bottle and gave her a snack and drink. She cut out the late morning feed herself.

Try swapping a feed for a snack. She will still be getting sufficient food and loosing one bottle will be fine. Yoghurts and cheese are good snacks aswel as fruit. I gave my daughter the occasional organix biscuit ir rusk too. Or carrot stick crisps for babies.

My little boy is 7 months old tomorrow. I can't really give specific times, as despite my efforts to stick to a routine he seems to have his own agenda with regards to nap times..!

He has a 7oz bottle when he wakes (usually some time between 6am and 7am, although he likes to wake at 5am some mornings and will mostly go back to sleep with his dummy!).

I had been giving him breakfast (porridge) an hour after his breakfast, but he had a sickness bug last week and has been refusing breakfast ever since then :-(

He dropped his late morning/lunchtime bottle himself a about a month ago, in favour of a yogurt after his lunch - so he would have lunch and then a bottle mid-afternoon.

However, he kept then refusing his bedtime bottle which resulted in night waking, so I gradually dropped the amount of his afternoon bottle to see if it helped, and he still refused the bedtime one - so I ended up dropping it all together.

If he is whingey in the afternoon (which isn't every day) I give him a snack and some water, then he has his dinner around 4.30/5.00pm and his bedtime bottle (7oz) around 6.30/7.00.
He has been finishing his bedtime bottles since I dropped the mid-afternoon bottle.

Now reading all your routines I feel like he's not getting enough, haha!

Too much? No way. My one year old has the same schedule. When she was seven months, there was more breastfeeding than that plus three meals and snacks.

Not sure I understand why you're concerned? Babies only eat when they're hungry.

She's not been drinking her 11am bottle so we've dropped that the past few days and now offer a snack. She seems to be coping well with it and is drinking a bigger bottle at 2pm now. I feel like it's helped.

Thanks everyone for your advice and routines.

I would say ours was similar at that age, except we had one more milk feed during the day and also 1-2 feeds during the night. They really do eat all the time once you start solids. I think it's a bit of a myth that once you start to wean that you offer less milk or somehow it cuts down on the frequency of feeding. It actually increases the number of total feeds throughout the day and night, but that will ease on it's own over time. We dropped down to 4 milk feeds during the day at around 9/10 months and then to 3 by around 11/12 months. But my daughter is 3 now and eats 6 times a day - breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner and milk before bed. So yes, sounds totally fine. I would say yeah, cut out a milk feed or move it to another time when she stops really being interested in having much of it or it starts to affect her interest in her next solid meal because she's too full. That's what we did and it all just sort of happened organically as she started to want more solid food and had less interest in milk.

This is our day at 10 1/2 months

6:30am - 6oz milk
7:30 - breakfast - tho he's been refusing all food at this time this week...
10:30/11am - 8oz milk tho I'm going to cut it down to 6oz
12:30/1pm - lunch
2:30/3 - 6oz milk if we're at home, snack if we're out and about
4:3/5pm - tea
6:30/7pm - 8oz milk

So same schedule as you but more milk here! DS2 is a right milk monster, I'm going to cut down his morning milk and drop the afternoon bottle while at home over the next month
