I am now 8 days overdue and really want a natural hospital waterbirth so really want to avoid the induction that is now booked for 12th! I'm wondering if there are any little things that might be signs of things moving in the right direction.

I have noticed in the last 2 days my boobs have grown more and today I have been feeling really tired. Could these be signs? Anyone else have a really tired day and just couldn't be bothered to do anything before labour? Could it be my body resting in preparation for the labour? I only have 4 days left to evict this baby on my own

Methods tried so far:
40+3= 2 mile walk
40+5= Sweep and a rest
40+7= Sweep and very active
40+8= Sex with hope of semen helping cervix
Also been regularly using birthing ball and trying to stay upright as much as possible to let gravity help. (Even sitting upright or leaning forward while resting in bed today).
Will resort to trying spicy food by 40+10 (I can't stand any spice level!) just to try and avoid induction.

Any advice welcome

:hugs2:

I am also 6 days (almost) over and am trying to evict baby, as I am booked into the midwife led birth unit and want to avoid induction at all costs otherwise I won't be able to to the unit and have my water birth!

Think the best things are walking, bouncing on your ball, lots of sex and try and have an O (try and stay in bed for an hour or two afterwards to keep the semen in there...sorry if TMI), nipple stimulation may work but think you have to do quite a lot for it to be successful! Stair walking (try going up and down sideways holding the banister and going up and down like a crab doing 2 steps at a time if you can) this really opens the pelvis up!

Good luck and hope baby comes soon!!

Tried the stairs sideways yesterday but was too tiring. Stairs are a bit too steep. Wonder which one of us will make the finish line first? Feeling like I have bit more energy today so I think birthing ball will be todays favourite tool.

Good luck with getting your LO evicted too.

Raspberry leaf tea, pineapple, lots of sex (with orgasm or just pointless), stair crab walking, bouncing.

good luck. xx

aw i feel sorry for u im only 2days over and completely fed up. ive tried walking ,birthing ball, spicy food, pineapple, raspberry leaf tea, sex and nothing not even a braxton hicks!! i tried everything with my first too and he decided to come naturally the dau i was booked in for induction at 13 days over typical!! hope this one doesnt keep me waiting.

hope baby cooperates and comes soon for u!! i'll be looking out for ur birth announcement!

Still no signs of much happening....this is the most pregnant I have ever been even my first came before this!! have a midwife appt today and hoping she will give me another sweep! Really do not want to be induced!!!! Hope things are moving along for you guys?

I've heard 2 tablespoons of castor oil does the trick, but never been in your shoes personally (first pregnancy) but my sister tried it after trying EVERYTHING else and within 5 hours she was in labor.. and she said she told her friend to do it and she went into labor too, but like I said.. I've never been there so I don't know :) you could try it and let us know ;) Good Luck!!!

I wouldn't touch castor oil im afraid.....it can cause the baby stress and this can cause the baby to poo in the uterus which can be very dangerous. It will also cause an upset tummy for mum too.

I just read that online, after I posted that... hmmm that's awful!! Wonder why so many people say to do it!!! Poor babies :(

I'm still here too just waiting. Tomorrow is now my last day to get labour going on my own and then induction Sunday. I really don't feel like anything is happening so quite sure I'm going to end up being induced and my whole birth plan is going to go out the window and everything will just go wrong. Its one of my nightmares to end up on drips, needing pain relief and being constantly monitored so I'm stuck in bed and can't move around! But got to counteract my nightmares with keeping baby safe and if induction is going to be best and reduce risks of placenta becoming less efficient and reduce risk of baby passing meconium before he/she is born then I'm going to just go with it. Is your induction booked Mel_jj?

:hugs2:

Hiya, aw I really hope things get moving for you! Come on baby, I didn't have an induction booked but my baby decided to make an appearance last night/this morning and was born at 3.11am after a quick 3 hours of labour he weighed 8lbs 1oz my biggest baby! I had him in the birth pool and he is perfect and we are home now! Hope things get moving for you guys and wish you the best of luck! X

Congratulations :D I hope to join in the waterbirth club very soon x

:hugs2:
