It's a bit late but that was it!

Just a brief run down of labour.

I went in to be induced on Saturday 26th at around 8pm, had my first pill inserted and lots of monitoring. Second pill at around 7am the next morning and the pain started at 9am which gradually got worse but the only thing I could have was paracetamol and codeine which did nothing!! We did lots of waiting and I hated being strapped down to the monitors, contractions seemed much more bearable when you can move around.
I had my OH, sister and mum with me but was told only 2 could stay once we got to delivery suite at around 4pm so my mum and sister kept swapping haha. I had my waters popped and they put me on a hormone drip and oh my god - the pain came thick and fast! I kept thinking I needed a poo :haha: but didn't! I can't explain the way your body takes over, I was pushing involuntary and kept being told off.
I was 5cms when I BEGGED for an epi so they called the anaesthetist who came pretty fast and he was doing all his preparations, got the tube in my back, ready to put the epi in when I felt the urge to push (still being told not to) when the MW came and had a look and announced that the head was between my legs and it was time to push so no epi for me! I pushed for no longer than 2minutes and Johnny was born and put in to my arms, I was in complete shock as I thought I had so much more time left and the pushing part didn't hurt but that may be down to how quick it was. I went from 5cms to having the baby in my arms in 20 minutes. I had a 2nd degree tear and lost lots of blood and had to stay in the delivery suite on my drip for quite a few hours but we still got to leave Hospital the next day :D

Johnny Vincent Wood born 12 days late on 27th May 2012 at 6.48pm weighing 8lb 2oz. Extra special as he was born on OH's late fathers birthday who he is also named after!

Thanks so much to all you ladies in third tri and good luck with your births and babies!!
