What do you do when your baby wakes up properly in the night? Like babbling, wanting to play etc. I never know how to approach it for the best, we usually have a 90 minute stretch each night where he is trying to catch my eye, blowing raspberries, grabbing my hair and so on. Any anecdotes or advice welcome!

We are going through this now, my daughter is 1 next week. She will wake up in the night and then be up on and off every hour, 2 hours playing, babbling (very loudly) and moving round the cot. She doesn't necessarily want us, she just wants to play and move! I don't know if it's a developmental thing? We sometimes out white noise on, leave her if she's happy or last night I actually cuddled her and sang to her till she relaxed because she was so excited she was almost laughing hysterically :-/

I avoid eye contact at all, keep the light off and hope she doesn't wake up DS in the next room, she's also very loud!

My 5 month old is doing this at 4 o'clock every morning at the minute. I try him with milk and leave him in his Moses basket. He can have my hand to hold or usually chew on but I don't talk to him or engage with him any more than that unless he begins crying
