I am wondering if anyone has insight into whether this may be affecting my fertility...Over the last 3-4 cycles, I have started spotting for about 5 days before af starts in earnest. This cycle it started 12dpo. I am now 17dpo and am still just spotting (3 BFNs). During my last cycle, the time from start of spotting to end of af was 8 days. My ovulation occurs about 6-7 days after af ends. Could this spotting mean something is off? Its a new phenomenon.

Hi there.

I'm a spotter too. I spot anywhere between 4 and 7 days before AF. I get cramping too. Its only been going on 5 months, which is exactly how long we've been trying. My LP also varys in length from 8 -11 days.

Ive already got two children. I had no spotting when trying for them. This is far from normal for me.

I'm actually off to see GP about it later, hoping she might help.

To answer your question, I have no idea if it'll affect your fertility. From what I've been reading, the expert opinion seems to be no. I really don't know though.

Ive never been a spotter, at all.

This cycle I spotted a day before AF showed. I was hopeful that it was implantation - was light, brown/pinkish, was gone the next day. Then, that day I was so suddenly excited that it might be a BFP - nope, AF came with a fury of pain and saddness.

I just went to the Doc today because the cramps were unbareable yesterday and today and they told me its normal.

Spotting a few days before AF could be a sign of low progesterone. Its probably worth checking it out at the doctors. They can do tests to check your levels as well as confirm that you are ovulating. Good luck
