Hello ladies...I'm 34 and TTC#1. I am feeling really bummed today and was hoping some of you ladies could help me out. I came off the pill in June and just ended my 5th cycle with all BFN's. I saw an RE during this last cycle due to my age and it being my first child that I am TTC. I was also concerned because even though af has been pretty regular as well as me getting positive opks and peaks on my cbfm...I have been spotting around 10 dpo until af (about 4 days per cycle). My RE did a bunch of blood tests during my cycle and today on CD25, after a negative blood pregnancy test, he did a uterine lining biopsy. After the painful procedure, he told me that my blood tests have been coming back with low progesterone levels and if my biopsy comes back with similar results, he is going to recommend clomid. I am pretty upset because I have been afraid all along that this could be my issue. Does this mean I may not be ovulating? Anyone else have these tests done and had similar results? Advice? Also, I'm a little freaked out that I have never read that someone on here has had the biopsy done that I did to help check for hormone levels...wonder why!

Hi Inpghttc. Firstly (((Hugs))) on feeling bummed today. This TTC lark is really tough going isn't it?

After doing loads of research on the net about short leuteal phases I had the same idea that I was progesterone deficient too, so I went to my GP for blood tests. I had a CD21 blood test which came back that I was OV'ing and my progesterone levels were actually very good. I started taking Co-Enzyme Q10 to help with Egg production (as I am 37 and classed as geriatric) and Vitamin B6 to help lengthen LP. Mine went up from 10days to 13days and I am thrilled.

The thing is that in 2008 I had Clomid too because of "unexplained infertility" and think it did me more harm than good. I was already OV'ing so it wasn't going to help with that but it did give me a steady 28 day cycle (from 25/26days). I thought Clomid was going to be my miracle drug but in fact it turned me into the woman from hell (my poor OH) and stripped me completely of all of my CM. I never got even a sniff of BFP and I can honestly say that YEARS down the line I am only just getting back to my "normal" self.

Try having a look at Natural Progesterone Cream, I've found this website in the US to be really helpful https://www.natural-fertility-info.com/ and on YouTube look for Hethir Rodriguez. I found her when I was looking into Progesterone and her video's have taught me so much. I'm now taking Maca...thanks to her.

Anyway, the long and short of it is...ask questions...loads of them...don't do what I did and just accept Clomid as the be all and end all.

Rambling now. Hope this helps. Lots of love xx

Hi, I have progesterone problem. If your lacking in progesterone it means a weaker ovulation. After the follicle bursts to release the egg it then goes on to produce progesterone. So if your progesterone isn't great can kinda mean crap ovulation and a small egg being released/under developed egg being released.

I'm on the Napro program and they specify progesterone day 21 or peak day +7 as being between 60 and 100 UK measurements. I questioned as to why my GP + NHS say I am fine and have had ovulation when I get 35, 46 and 54 as progesterone day 21 results. The answer is the level is set so low because otherwise the NHS would be handing out fertility drugs left, right and centre, its cost effective to have the levels set so low. Also unless you are referred in UK to fertility specialists GP's don't have a clue about fertility. They have basic training in it. Plus GP's aren't able to prescribe fertility drugs- generally (perhaps there are some that are able to??). Fertility is a specialised remit and as far as I'm aware not in the GPs

Update: Hello again ladies...just wanted to update you that my biopsy results came back with similar results showing low progesterone and so I am supposed to start clomid tomorrow...little nervous, but hope it helps me! I am also having an HSG done on Friday...I am HOPING it is not as painful as the biopsy was and I find out that my tubes are clear!!!
