Low birth weight babies

Did anyone else have a low birth weight baby. My son is a month old now and not on the weight chart yet. He's not even 5lb yet. I'm wondering if he will always be small or if he will have a massive gain at some point and catch up.

He was a 35 weeker so not terribly premature. I have read that he should have caught up by the time he is one but I just can't see it.

My 29weeker is 2 months 3 weeks (1 week adjusted) and is maybe 7.5lbs now. She was 3.3 at birth. She gains slowly.

My little girl was 4lb 10 at birth (37 weeks) She gained pretty steady and is now 4 and a half months and on the 25th centile. She wasn't on the charts either at first. Your little boy will catch up but maybe is smaller anyway, someone has to fall at the top and bottom of the charts or there wouldn't be an average at all xx

Mine was born at 30 weeks and he was 2 lbs 5 oz and is now 5 months and only 9.5 lbs

My son wa weighed today and has put on 1oz this week. He's 4-13 at 40 corrected or 5 actual and I'm sad.

My son was 4lb 6oz when born and hes now 14lb 2oz at 6 1/2 months. I worried at the beginning but we know hes small and as long as he is gaining we are happy.

I have a 29 weeker who at 8 months is only 11lb 7oz, but she's gaining steadily and following her own curve just below the 0.4th, and that's based on her adjusted age. As long as they're gaining, try not to worry. I know it's hard but it consumed my life for months obsessing about gain and what she was eating to the point where I didn't breastfeed and I'm exclusively expressing. But as long as they're happy and healthy, it's all good

My son was born 1st percentile, weighing 1lb4oz at 27 weeks. A severe case of intra uterine growth restriction. He`s been sloooowly catching up over the years. He`s 3.5 now and is JUST reaching the 10th percentile. He should eventually be average, by the time he`s 6-7. What matters is he`s healthy and happy.
