Please help me ladies!

I'm taking 81 mg aspirin to help this pregnancy but I'm still bf'ing my 21 month old son. Dh had a cold last week and now it seems the kiddo might be coming down with it. I'm so scared about Reye's Syndrome.

My ob said the risk was low but not completely impossible. :(

Please help put my mind at ease. I'm so worried. I know she wouldn't put me on something that has a big risk of hurting my son.

Anyone have any experience they can share?

Thanks!

Hmm… all I've heard is not to take it at all? Is there another option? Sorry, no experience with it.

Thank you for your reply. I don't know if there's another option. This is what my ob told me to do.

I barely have any milk left now so hopefully everything will be ok.

He had a high fever on Saturday and we brought him to the hospital. He has an ear/throat infection. Poor little guy.

Aww, sorry to hear that. I guess I would just say to ask your doctor again since you are concerned about it, or ask a different doctor.

Thank you. We're headed home now (a 2 hour drive, he got sick while we were heading out of town :() so hopefully he'll make it all the way home without an incident. He's sleeping now so if he could sleep most of the way it'll be better.

My ob consulted her collegues at her office and also the fertility specialist in a much bigger city and they all agreed that the risk was low. It's still quite nerve wracking when he's sick. :(

I asked my doctor and she said the risk was very low.

The benefits for me (I've read the research on preventing premature birth with pre-eclampsia by >10%) outweigh the risks.

Thank you.

Do you still have much milk? Mine has severely dropped in the last few days. :( Could be from stress from Finn's sickness and traveling and not drinking enough/eating well. I'm really hoping it comes back some in the next few days. Just to turn around and go back into town on Christmas.

I think what Finn has now is bacterial. They gave him antiboitics so hopefully the doctor knew what he was doing. Although, he did "mess up" big time by telling us only Tylenol, making us go back to the hospital when his fever kept climbing, even after the Tylenol. :(

It's just such a scary time of year with all the bugs going around. :(

I feel my benefits are great from aspirin, too. Sustaining this pregnancy is very important to me.

I still have what seems like enough, DS still nurses to sleep at night, usually once during the night, and sometimes for naps and sometimes not again until the next night, so it's usually just to sleep and sometimes he will go all day without it or sometimes he will nurse a couple of times during the day, depending on what we do. I never see milk coming out of his mouth anymore though, like I used to. And I don't hear him gulping nearly as much, so I'm not sure how much is nursing and how much is comfort nursing, if that makes sense. He seems satisfied though.

Glad he's still satisfied. :)

Finn hardly swallows at all anymore. I know most of it is just for comfort. He nurses to sleep every night and every nap. He wakes anywhere from every 1-3 hours all night and nurses every time. He nurses first thing in the morning. And any other time he wants to. Little stinker. He will probably start nursing a little less now that my milk is so low.
