Hiya everyone,im not long back from 20 week scan and my placenta is right at front covering cervix.I have a scan in 2 weeks to finish measurements as baby wouldnt move to measure spine ect and then if placenta doesnt move by then ill have scan at 36 weeks.Im really worried as ive never had this my 2 boys everyting was ok.Ive had an epidural so having that if c-section is needed is ok but im still scared if c-section is needed.I know its too early to worry and it may move but wondered who else had this and it did move up and you was able to give brith normaly...I done a bad thing and looked it up on internet and now im petrified :(

Mine was 1.4cm at 20 weeks and by 32 weeks had gone up to 7.8cm. Is yours posterior or anterior? Most of them move but the ones I've seen that don't seem to be more posterior.

I had a posterior low placenta and it did move eventually :) Good luck

placenta's do move so dont worry @ 13 weeks i had an anterior placenta @ 18 weeks its now posterior fundal, so try not to worry much

mine is the same at the moment, im having quite a few scans for other reasons and will ensure I get it checked each time, I really hope that it moves as having a c- section is not really what I want if I can help it - obviously if it has to happen then ok. You have got alot of time for things to change and not something that you can do anything about so fingers crossed for you xxx

i had a low lying placenta with my dd, unfortunately it did not move (i knew it wouldn't even though the midwife said most do move in time) and had an elective c section which was in my opinion fantastic! it was so chilled, the staff were fantastic and so so quick. i'd read horror stories of c sections and found them all to be untrue. the recovery was quick if you just get up and get on with it, i was only in 2 nights and was straight out doing the monthly the shop the same day! so if you do have to have one, theres not much to dread! good luck xx

I had one and agree with exactly what mummy2violet says

Im just so worried about a c-section.I hate the thought of being cut open and having stiches ill be so scared they will split (i hate blood).I have so many worries about it...This is my 1st daughter and i really want a normal labour..Ofcourse if pacenta hasnt moved its something ill have no say over but ill end up paniking more lol

honeybun, you sound exactly like I did with DD. I burst into tears over it several times. It's going to be fine, whatever happens. I think it'll move as it does in most cases :hugs: The odds are in your favour!

Just to let you know that at my scan today 4 days after my last scan placenta has moved up and is in a good position, I hope that this helps to reassure you that things can change really quickly xxx

the odds are really in your favour that it moves. And if not I can tell you that I did not see any blood while having a c section and the wound was absolutely fine and never bled at all. For me the worst part of it all was the cannula but you need that for the epidural anyway. The way I saw it was that the birth is a very tiny part of being a parent so even though I did not get the birth I wanted it did not matter

I hate needles but ive had the horrible epidural before so im kinda got experience of that :( but time will tell.Ive got my fingers crossed that it has moved

you have weeks ahead yet try not to think about it at the moment, it has every chance of moving xxxx

I had a low lying anterior placenta with ds1, discovered at 20 week scan. I was scanned at 32 weeks and it had moved. I gave birth naturally. I was told at the 20 week scan that they move 95% of the time :hugs::hugs::flower: Try not to worry! Good luck!

I had a low anterior placenta at 20 weeks, and didn't think any more of it. There are certainly lots of other things to spend time worrying about :)

At 34 weeks I was scanned again and placenta was still covering the cervix entirely. I honestly was worst case cenario, and was admitted to hospital due to bleeding and crash sectioned due to more bleeding at 35 weeks. And honestly, it was all fine. Recovery wasn't bad, and the baby is fine (despite the placenta seperating). The biggest problem was I lost a lot of blood and had to be transfused. Again, worst case and unusual for that to happen. I met a lot of other people who were in the same situation while I was in hospital, and everyone else had a nice calm scheduled section.

I had a low lying placenta earlier in this pregnancy. But it moved up just fine, as most of them do.

But like Alias, with my first, I had a previa, which caused a bit of chaos, but in the end, it turned out perfectly fine.

So either way, it will all work out. And that's all that really matters.
