Hi! I noticed that my baby was not moving much yesterday and today. So I called my md office and the nurse sent me to the hospital. Of course he started moving once we got close to hospital. They did a stress test and everything looked good- yay! They wanted to do a ultrasound, just be sure. The nurse told me that everything was perfect, except my amniotic fluid was in the low-normal range. She had me wait until she could talk to the doctor about what to do. Since I already have a scheduled ultrasound next week, she said that I could follow up with my doctor then. Has anyone else had low amniotic fluid? What kind of monitoring/follow up is common?

I had low fluid with my last pregnancy and they monitored until it got into the low range I was 37+5 when I had my scan that said it was then low. they induced me the morning after and I had my lo at 38weeks. my consultant told me its something they generally just monitor while its classes as normal they will only take action when it gets too low. my boy was perfectly healthy and they still don't know if I was leaking small amounts of fluid or what was happening to it.

I'll be stalking this as my fluid is at 5cm which is apparently the lowest on the low side before it becomes dangerous :/ xxx

georgebaby1- thank you for your response! I am glad your son did not have any complications.

Emma93- do you have a follow up scan soon? Did they give you any advice?

I had a follow up ultrasound on Thursday- one week after I was told it was low. It went up from 6 to 8. The doctor was very happy with that, but said she still wants to monitor me because it should not have gone from normal to 6. I have not noticed any leaking at all. She said the baby is gaining weight and there is adequate blood flow to the baby from the umbilical cord (she measured it during the scan). If either of those things were not right she would have induced me. She told me to drink a lot of water and come back in one week for another scan. She also told me that it is really important to notice if there are any decreased movements. I have so much trouble with kick counts, as my baby still has 2-3 lazy days every week. I am glad that she is taking it seriously and monitoring me closely.
