Hi,

My wife is around 4 months pregnant. Last week the doctor ordered the tests. Her platelet count is disturbed its 100 (normal range 150-400)

Secondly we also went for an LFT which resulted in increased values for AST , ALT and GGT (all above 50)

We are worried a bit, though the doctor say its not worrying yet and need to repeat the test. Her father had AML (acute myeloid leukemia). We are very much upset for some unknown reasons. Can anyone please let us know if its okay to have a low platelet count during pregnancy and slightly de-railed LFT ?

Also she is on 75 mg loprin (apsprin) every alternate day since last 25 days.

Regards.

Hello there. I am sorry I can't answer your question as I have no experience. But I just wanted to say that you will get a much better response if you post in the right section (this area of the forum is more for technical problems like not being able to see the website properly)

Go down the index of the forum and find Pregnancy Forum. There will be a subforum there called Gestational Complications, post again there. You could also try the section Second Trimester. Hope that helps :flower:

I do run a low platelet count. Currently 128. I'm TTC #4, and my hemotologist doesn't seemed too concered. She says as long as it doesn't drop below 30. Now with my 2nd child my platelet level was 104 at delivery and I almost didn't receive my epidural, but the anestheologist did end up giving it to me. I never had any LFT abnormalities though.

Is this your 1st baby? Any Blood pressure issues?? Some women develop PIH, pregnancy induced hypertention or HELLP syndrome (a condition where there is elevated liver enzymes and low platelets, severe high blood pressure), but I think she's too early for that?

You could always request an opinion of a hemotologist if you are concerned? My hemotologist wants to see me after 6 weeks when I conceive and will follow me thru pg.. Good luck!

When I was pregnant with the last few children I had low platelets but when I hit 90 they said no epidural so I decided to go for it at 100. As long as she doesn't keep going lower all should be ok!!
