Hiya,

im sneaking over from another forum but its just that im seeing a friend tomorrow who's ttc and is on the nhs list for fertility treatment.

They have not done test on her yet, but so far she's all regular and ovulating. Her OH however, has been diagnosed as having low sperm count.

I was wondering if you had any advice i can cheer her up with (if possible in this ttc frame of mind..i know:))

I have heard rumours such as shot of coffee before bd'ing etc.. Anything would be good as I know she's finding it difficult getting bumped down on the list constantly..dates keep changing etc... I'll take any advice you've got!

I'd really appreciate it, cheers guys!! xxx

i heard carrots where good as well ! and it may sound weird but i thought more a guy masturbate more he get sperm (from my HD ) but it take a little while ....

take the sperm masturbation back ...he just told me by MSN one more time i did not listen when he talk ....it's bad from them actually!

Increasing vitamin C intake may be helpful in boosting fertility, particularly for men; tests have shown that taking 500-1000 milligrams a day can increase the number and quality of sperm produced and reduce abnormalities. This vitamin may also help to prevent the condition known as ‘agglutination', in which the sperm becomes stuck together and are unable to reach the egg. All fruit and vegetables – particularly kiwi fruit, peppers, blackcurrants, strawberries and citrus fruits – contain abundant quantities of vitamin C.

Vitamin C
Improves sperm quality, count and mobility.
Best sources Strawberries, kiwi fruit, raspberries, oranges and tomatoes.
Daily requirement each for you and him 1000mg (equivalent to 20 oranges).
Meal idea Large salad with peppers, cherry tomatoes, watercress, avocado and grated carrot. Fresh juice made with 2 oranges, 3 carrots, 1 lemon and some ginger. Berries and kiwi fruit for snacks.

Check with your GP about the changes you're making.

Well, my DH has a LSP too - not dangerously love but enough to perhaps cause some issues (like we need more issues!)

Things I can suggest are
Switching to Boxershorts if not already
Avoid very hot showers before bed or BD
Stay away from spa baths!
Get a good mens multivitamin happening.
Powder his chestnuts to keep them from sweating

Honestly simple changes can make a difference.
My DH did just these above and SC increased by 5%

Good luck

:rofl: just funny the way you put it,chestnuts, lol!

Thanks though, every bit helps! xxx

I have a lot of info my my computer about this; here goes...

There are several things that may help increase sperm count, including:

* Exercise. Regular exercise will help reduce stress, but be careful. Excessive exercise can cause harm, as can certain exercises that may negatively impact the testicles, such as bicycling.
* Ejaculating less often. The more often a man ejaculates, the less dense the semen will be. Maintain a gap of three days between ejaculations.
* Refrain from smoking and drinking alcohol.
* Massage body with herbal oil, which may improve blood circulation.
* Have sex in the early morning or afternoon. It is believed that sperm levels are often highest in the morning.
* Avoid tight underwear, saunas, and whirlpools, all of which may increase the temperature of the testicles.
* Use natural supplements and vitamins that may assist with sperm count.
* Maintain a high protein, low fat diet, rich in vegetables and whole grains. Avoid bitter and spicy foods.

There are also a variety of vitamin supplements that may assist with low sperm count. They include:

* Vitamin C
* Vitamin E
* Vitamin B12 Selenium
* Zinc Arginine
* Carnitine

There are several dietary measures that a man who has a low sperm count can take to attempt to increase his sperm count, including:

* Eat a diet that includes whole, unprocessed foods. The best foods for health in general, and also for sperm count problems, are whole grains, legumes, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds.
* Eliminate alcohol intake. In addition to the general nutritional benefits of avoiding alcohol, avoiding alcohol may also assist with sexual performance issues.
* Identify and avoid food allergies.
* Raw sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds have been shown to help with male fertility. It is recommended that a man with a low sperm count eat 1/4 cup of raw sunflower or pumpkin seeds each day.
* Drink at least 48 ounces of water every day.
* When possible, try to eat organic foods. Some studies suggest a connection between chemical fertilizers and pesticides with both male and female infertility.

As you can see, many of these dietary changes are not only useful in increasing sperm count, many of them just make nutritional sense as well!

clomid can help produce more sperm in men its amazing the uses it has

My husband and I had this same problem. A friend of his introduced him to an all natural supplement called Progene. It takes about 3 months to start seeing results but I think this help is what caused our two wonderful boys!

The other thing to keep in mind is that she may not want all these suggestions. She may just want you to be a friend, talk, hug, know that she's got support.

I say this because my DH has LSP as well as low motility and poor morphology hence our only option to conceive is IVF. I would get REALLY pissed off when friends and family would tell me all the 'tricks' (which I already knew about) when I knew good well they didn't bloody work and just wanted to say 'face it, there is nothing you can do about this!'.

Its human nature to want to help and to feel awkward if you can't help, but my advice is to just be super supportive for your friend.
