Hi ladies,

This is my first time posting here, but since DHs test results yesterday I figured we're officially in it for the long haul.
We got his SA results yesterday and they weren't good :( He has a low count and limited mobility. He's been referred to a specialist which will take at least 3 weeks, and I have an appointment with my GP next week to discuss next steps, but I'm going crazy here. Has anyone been through this? Or have any knowledge of what happens next? Just absolutely devastated it's maybe not going to happen naturally for us, is there still hope? Any tips or tricks to help with his count?

Anything at all would be appreciated, I'm so down :(

Hi sorry to hear your feeling down, there are lots of success stories on bnb though that always make me feel more positive :)

Have you thought about vitamins? My DH has a slightly low count but not too bad, had 2 SA's, 1 better than the other so have to do 2 more now to get more results

I researched a bit about vitamins and I have read stories on here from people who have seen improved results after a few months, my DH is on:

Vitamin C - 1000mg 2 x daily
Vitamin B100 - 100MG OF ALL b VITS
Vitamin D - 25ug
Vitamin E - 400iu
Omega 3 fish oil - 1000mg
Zinc - 25mg
Calcium 500mg and magnesium 250mg - 1 TAB
Selenium - 200ug

Other ones I used to buy were co enzyme q10 120mg and L carnitine 500mg
I just havenht bought these for a while as all getting a bit expensive!

I was expecting his SA to be bad as he had an undescended testicle corrected at 6 which we thought could have affected sperm count so started him on all these vits over a year ago and just carried on to be safe!

your GP will probably refer you to a specialist yourself, Ive recently had scans and blood tests for hormones and now booked in to have a laparoscopy, hsg and hysteroscopy in one as I have heavy irregular periods and they suspect endometriosis :(

I know how difficult it is to stay hopeful but it can happen naturally, you only have to read the success stories on here to see that, it can be hard to stay positive but dont give up hope, you're on the right road by seeing your GP and that made me feel better from the start knowing I was doing something to help

Lots of luck xx

My DH has very low sperm count less than 3 million, unfortunately our FS thinks there is nothing we can do about it and did not even consider sending him for further tests so we are on our own. DH is quitting beer and on a huge list of vitamins (below) we will see in a few weeks whether this has made any difference

Hey there sorry to hear your news but I do believe there are things tha can help! My husband had numerous tests which all came back with a borderline count of 19 million and 35% motility. He takes a fertility multi-vitamin, zinc and selenium and after trying accupuncture a couple of times his counts went to 58 million and 50% motility. Good luck!! X

Hi RAFwife. Please don't get down! As your partners sperm is low ican suggest a option that worked for me and my husband, put him on the tablet called Wellman conception, they really work, my husband's sperm went from almost nothing to the best the doctor had ever seen, he went from 8 million sperm per ml to 63 million per ml on the tables! I really wish you the best of luck and lots of baby dust to you both.

Thanks so much for the advice, I really appreciate it. After lots of recommendations we ordered Fertilaid and just got it today - hoping for a miracle. My hubby's staying positive but I'm finding it really hard, just seems like it's not meant to be - even though the thought of never being a mum is breaking my heart. Got my appointment tomorrow so we'll see how it goes.

hi everyone
i am new in this site. just like to tell u about myself shortly. i am from turkey live in uk. myself and my wife was trying to have baby last 2 years. nothing happened. went to doctor and had sperm test, result was bad my sperm account was very low. of course putted me down it was very upsetting but never lose hope.

anyway in turkey people really in to natural eating and alternative medicine anyway i was watching the tv and come a cross with this guy call dr ibrahim saracoglu, he s expert on chemistry and searching chemistry of all the natural goods and finding some cure for the some illnes.

of course i was interesting on his cure for low sperm account. he s cure was '' Carob '' (which we call ''Keci Boynuzu'' in turkey) cure. Cure was very simple
take 6 or 7 carob and break them in to pieces and put in to half a liter boiling water and boiled exactly 3 minute and leave 20 minute for cool down than drink whole before u go to bed, first 2 weeks drink whole cure than after 2 weeks drink half of it every night before u go to sleep. keep drink it least 3 month.

Anyway after i read this cure i got kilos of carob when i was in turkey bring it home with me started to make it ( thanks to my wife most of time it was ready when i get home)and drink it 3 month also i took male vitamin tablets time to time. Anyway after 3 month or maybe little bit more later i went to clinic to get sperm test and all my sperm account dramaticly changed and it has backed to normal, couldnt believe it :)) hope u all try this cure and make same effect as it did mine. hope this work for all of yous :))

Thank you that's very interesting. I think you can buy it in powder form although not sure if the effect will be the same as with beans.

"The Carob tree is native to the Mediterranean. The seeds or pods are edible and similar to cocoa, but contain no theobromine. Carob powder is an edible powder or flour made from the ground seeds and pods of this plant, often used as a substitute for chocolate. Carob Powder is derived from an alkaline legume fruit. It is 80% protein and contains vitamins A, B, B2, B3 and D. It is also rich in calcium, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium and contains iron, manganese, barium and copper. "

I'm currently going through it, but my DH's count is 900,000. We don't even have a million . Our OB originally told us that she wanted to do another SA (we've done two with all coming back the same) and then she would send us to a urologist. She's been AWFUL, so we called the infertility specialist who wanted us to come in immediately. We had a one month wait, and go next Wednesday the 14th to see what is next.

My DH's count was not only severely low, but had horrible morphology and motility with a noticable pinhead sperm. We've been TTC for two years, and I have slightly elevated FSH. Doctor said thats normal though and just indicates as of now that I'm ovulating earlier than day 14.

So right now, we have male factor. My DH has been taking a multi-vitamin along for years, along with a zinc supplement the last three months. I'll be able to let you know more next week. I've already had several months of blood work done so they said that should help us move faster towards treatment.

Hello everyone

Im in the same boat - OH and I have been ttc for a little over 2.5 years now and we have male factor - lower on every level - OH is taking Vit C, E, Zinc and Macca + eating healthy and cutting out alcohol x It is very deflating being told best chance is IVF which we went through in August but got a BFN :( Its quite frustrating but now that we have been diagnosed as having a male factor there is no up to date test to see if any progress is being made with taking the vitamins - start IVF round 2 in February and praying for BFP x

Good luck to you all - I would love to hear some stories where people have got a BFP despite low count etc x

Hey there Melbram! How long did it take you from the time you were diagnosed with male factor to moving to IVF?

When we were diagnosed with male factor after 2 SAs we were referred by our GP to the fertility clinic - I had scans OH had another SA and he was also examined by a male fertility specialise - he had a suspected varicocele so OH had some scans too. To get to the point of actually having EC/ET it was about 12 months x

Hi, I'd like to join too. My dh also has low count 8millions and 45% motility.
I more concern on the motility rather than the count. What use alot of sperm that can't swim like a missile? I wonder if the count increases, will it increase the motility too? It's like...more sperms mean more posibility to have good swimmers?
I've ordered wellman for him. Will do the test again in 3months time.

Hi Ladies

Like Melbram, we have been advised our only option is IVF with ICSI and I start the drugs next week. However, at the last SA, we increased from 6 (in total) to 100,000. I know these numbers are still terrible but it is a massive increase percentage wise.

DP has lost 5.5 stone and has been taking:

Multi vits
Folic acid
Macca
COq10
Alpha Lipoic acid
Zinc
Selenium
Cordyceps extract

He has also virtually cut out booze and had a mega healthy diet.

Nearly all are good strong swimmers. This should help our chances for a good selection come egg retrieval even if the chances of a natural pregnancy are still low.

Wishing you all lots of luck x

:flower:

My OH has low count too although it did improve in the 2nd SA still told
ivf is our best chance going to look into some of the vitamins you have suggested and see if those can help not going back to FS until late january.
