I'm not very good at writing things at all but I'll try to include everything
Just a quick note, my whole labour was back to back so my back pains were probably a lot worse than a normal labour.
At about 2:15am woke up with agonizing back pain, thought I might have just had a bad stomach with the runs as had a very hot curry that evening. The pains were getting worse though and by the next hour they were starting to carry round to my front.
My mam ran me a bath but it didn't make much difference, tried a beanbag and going on my birthing ball but the pains were still just as crippling to the point I was bending over and being sick every time they came.
We didn't go to the hospital till about 8 in the morning since we knew if I wasn't dilated enough they'd just send me home.
Had an internal was only 1cm dilated! So the nurse gave me a S&S.
Wen't home after being given 2 paracetamol and 2 codeine, which did naff all IMO.
Community midwife came out about half 12 (would have been my last appointment before having to be induced), she gave me another interal and I had dilated to 4cm. Gave me another S&S (which are awful!) to 5cm.
She rang the delivery suit to tell them I'd be in soon, recommended I had another bath which I did, then set off to the hospital at half one that afternoon.
The contractions were still coming hard and fast so had an injection of meptid, tried the gas and air but that didn't help either.
Things went practically the same till half 4 when I had another internal, I was 8cm dilated by then but still not feeling any urges to push.
By 5pm the urge was starting to come it wasn't strong enough yet though I just kept running back and forth to the toilet thinking I needed a big poo!
Tried laying down for half an hour which made the urges come stronger and stronger to the point were I was just pushing instinctively every time they came.
Midwife was trying to get me to hold off as she did another internal and I still had some cervix left. She'd only left the room for 10 minutes when the strongest contraction of them all came and I couldn't help but bear down and push.
6pm - I was screaming at my mam by now that I could feel something between my legs, don't think she believed me though but called for the midwife anyway. She checked again and I was right, his head was at the brim of my cervix.
It all went so fast then, I just remember another midwife coming into the room, both of them grabbing my legs and telling me to push.
I'm not going to lie, the burning pain is excruciating when pushing them out, but it really does just happen so fast.
Anyway, I was pushing for 1 hour and 15 minutes, with every push came burning pain and the agonizing back pain. I had been so calm and relaxed through the whole thing until now, it was so painful I kept telling them I couldn't do it.
Then he was just there, she pulled his little body out and our gorgeous Lucas was born at 19:19pm on the 17th of Febuary 2012, 7 days overdue and weighing 9lb2oz!
I remember crying so hard when he was born, when they say it's such an overwhelming feeling they don't lie
Sorry it's so long I wanted to get most of it in there without dragging it out.
