I just want to be clear this post is to get some.honest opinions if you will :) i dont want to cause an.argument, offend etc.

So a guy is paying maintenance to his childs mother, they are not and have not been together for years. Fob is now married so is she.

Father who has two day custody a fortnight, has two kids with new wife how is maintenance affected?

Mother loses her job, should the father give her more maintenance to help while she finds another/ start paying for things above and beyond prev agreed maintenance.

Thanks for reading :) xx

nope. The maintenance is meant for the kids anyway, not for the mother to pay the bills etc. Stick to the previously agreed maintenance :) Thats my opinion anyway! :)

Maintance would go down slightly and would be reassessed if Father has remarried and has two other children he lives with and supports (i think?)lol

Also I think it would depend on the situation/relationship as in if the mother and the father though seperated got on well etc and the father was happy to help out and up the maintanance that would be his decision but he doesn't have to he could offer to pay part of say for example nursery fee's or school fee's until mother got a new job or just stick to the previously agreed amount as with no job the mother would get income support benefits help towards rent etc. Though that could take a while to arrange and be given.

I would say it depends on the situation lol

If Father has more kids then maintenence lowers. Also yeah just depends on the situation if he wants to help out till she gets a new job,

I dont know if its different elsewhere in the UK, but here in scotland its 15% of the fathers wage for the first child, and less for every child thereafter. Regardless of how many children he then goes on to have with someone else x

my daughters dad has another baby and the maintance for my daughter has now gone down

Think the UK is all the same regardless of scotland or england, Its 15% of wage for 1st child, but if they have more kids it drops to 10% for each and so on.. the first child doesnt get to keep the 15% its lowered equally to 10%, which is unfair really. should just be 15% anyways for any kids!

the maintenece shouldnt be affected imo if the father has more kids. if he wants more kids then he should make sure he can afford them without his existing kids suffering.

as for the mother losing her job - thats what benefits are for. they will pay for her while she looks for a new job/retrains etc...

Maintance will go down becasue he has 2 other kids with someone else, and it would be up to him to help her. He doesnt legally have to.
