I'm also posting this in third trimester because my c-section is today and I'd really like to know.

My pre-op phone call included: No eating or drinking for 8 hours (totally not fair since my surgery is at 2:30PM and I'm already thirsty), no jewelry, no contacts. That's all she said. I forgot to ask if I could wear makeup. Did anyone else? I already plan to straighten my hair this morning and I'd like to look pretty for the 10,000 pictures that will be taken shortly after the section.

Anyone?

I don't think make up would make any difference, although you can't have nail varnish.

To be honest make up was the last of my worries!

Hope everything goes well

Xx

I was told no make up as its important that they can see your natural skin colour and any changes to it (as its an indicator of your health).

I'm planning to straighten my hair too. OH thinks I'm mental but I know I won't get chance to make any tweaks to my appearance before someone gets a camera out x

Didn't even think about it tbh. Had mascara on but that's the only make up I wear anyway. I also wore contacts as my glasses were broken!

I wore contacts (dailies) and mascara.. I got told I shouldn't but I wasn't made to take it off lol! I also straightened hair and managed to look ok on those first pics lol!! Lots of luck for today!xx

i have to say that make up was the furthest thing from my mind but having said that my c-section was an emergency and i was already in labour.
I can see why not wearing it is a good idea as they use skin colour, nails etc as a marker of how you are.

The not eating/drinking before is a sensible thing as if you have stuff in your stomach and you have to have a GA then you are at a higher risk of choking during surgery plus once you come round you are more likely to be sick if you have food in your stomach.

Hope it all went ok.

Make up was the last thing on my mind, I was too scared of the section!!

If you feel up to it, go ahead. I looked like shit in those first photos but I don't care, you can see how happy I am and that's all that matters to me

Thanks everyone. I'm really not self-obsessed or anything. I was really scared of the c-section because my first was a traumatic EMCS after a long labor. I was given a lot of advice about how to calm down and one thing was to take a shower, do my hair, and put on some makeup. It was an afternoon delivery, and I was just trying to make myself look/feel nice and distract myself from the panic.

Something must have worked because I remained remarkably calm for someone with anxiety problems and my baby boy was here before I knew it.

I still didn't look particularly nice in the pictures, but I was smiling :D
