Im sorry to sound so stupid but how do you make up bottles?
atm i sterilise a bottle when LO is hungry then use a ready made carton but shes a hungry monkey so we're switching to powder to save us from bankrupcey

Can you talk me through your routine when making up bottles?

Thank you!!! xxx:hugs:

I wash and sterilize 3 bottles on a morning and leave in the sterilizer until she is ready for a feed and I store previously boiled warm water in a thermos and add water and powder scoops when needed, so its just the right temp :D

Mailie has hers room temperature so through the day I usually have a jug of cooled boiled water on the side, bottles in the steraliser, I then take a bottle out, put water in add the powder, shake and feed!

Occasionally if I am feeling extra domesticated I make all the bottles up except the 2 I take to bed and put them in the fridge to be warmed in hot water to take the chill off!

The 2 I give during the night if she won't breastfeed I put the powder in 2 pots measured out and take 2 bottles of cooled water up, pour the powder in when needed although I usually end up covered in powder because my aims rubbish when I'm half asleep!

Thanks ladies i think im going to be all fingers and thumbs!! lol xx

I steralize my btls, boil the kettle, leave the water to cool for 30mins, i then pour into the btls and leave out at the side. You can also store them in the fridge but as Alex likes them at room temp i dont.
I add the powder as required.

I also make sure i use them within 24hours

Everyone has there own way of doing it you have to do what works for you and your lifestyle.

I sterilise my bottles in the morning, boil the kettle and leave to cool for 30 mins. I then make the bottles up (so as to be killing any germs from the powder at water over 70 degrees), quick cool using water from the fridge dispenser and then pop at the back of the fridge :) I then boil the kettle and warm to room temp as and when required. I warm the night time one slightly more as a routine thing :)

I sterilize all bottles in the morning in cold water steriliser. Take em out one at a time when needed.

I rinse the bottle first with the cooled boiled water(leave it 5-10mins after boiling)
Make up bottle with more cooled bolied water and leave on side till LO wants it. We make a fresh feed straight after she has had one cause then by the time she is hungry again, the bottle has cooled enough.

wen she was newborn we did the flask thing and used cartons.. as i was told the water had to be hot to kill germs in the powder?

now i either use ready feed or make 3 bottles the night before.. boil water leave to cool make bottles , cool down and then into the fridge.. then just warm up wen required in the microwave,..

i dont sterlise now i just put the bottles through the dishwasher on a hot wash and then put them together straight away...

everyone does it diff.. some people sterlise till their babies are 2 some dont sterlise at all!

Am i the only one who makes the bottles up for the day? Did it with DD and it didnt hurt her eaither =/

Nope.. I make up 5 bottles at a time. This is what the midwife told me to do and i have done it since Tyler switched to formula..

We sterilise the bottles daily for the day ahead, then boil the kettle and fill one bottle, let it cool and then when he is ready for a feed we add the powder, shake and off we go. Then we boil the kettle and fill his next bottle with boiling water, so that when he needs his next bottle, it's at room temperature. We just make sure and fill his next bottle with freshly boiled water when we are making up the one he is just going to drink.

Nope i make up bottles for the day too and store them in the fridge. Did this with my last 2 sons and they managed fine so not sure why it was ok to do this then and not now! Som im ignoring my health visitor (who is totally patronising btw) and im doing what ive always done. I must say but i do think the bottles should be sterilised until they are one.

i make 3 or 4 at a time and leave them in the fridge, and when hes ready for his feed i heat bottle in a jug of hot water.
