Hey, i posted a bit here before while pregnant. Than lost my computer and internet, now i'm connected again and thought i would share my labour and delivery story to reintroduce myself. This may get long sorry.
I was due on 21st November 08. I hadn't had any pains or discomfort with being pregnant until the evening of the 19th, just a sore back and hips, didn't think much, went to bed. I was already 3cm dialated at my last doctor's appointment. Awoke that morning at 1:30am with really sore hips, i rubbed then until i fell back asleep. Than awoke at 4:30am, my hips hurt too much to sleep though now, it was like an achey pressure in them, i also noticed i had chills like when you have the flu, this worried me so close to my due date. I called my mother, i kept saying, no it can't be labour, it doesn't hurt enough. But the pressure was very unconftorable. I could feel what i described as hunger pains, i tried eating apple sauce, but couldn't stomach it. I was crawling around on the bed in circles. I was pretty sure it was labour, but thinking it should be hurting more. I just didn't know what i wanted, i wanted to eat, to throwup, to pee, to poop, sit down, walk around, most of all just put my head through the wall from the discomfort.
I called the hospital, described it to them, they said i just had the flu and should not come in because they couldn't having me infecting others, to drink water a see if the baby moves in a few hours - idiots. Finally my mother yelled at me "go to the hospital before you get pushing pains". I was worried they were going to be mad at me, but i went at 6:30am. I was so weak i could hardly dress myself or walk. The nurse i talked to was there and she was really rude, asked what changed and i just said "well i have these pains like hunger" she was not impressed.
They put me in the labour room, hooked me up and checked my dialation. I was wondering why the were humoring me, i mean it hurt, and was unconftorable, i just expected much worse, i didn't believe i was having contractions still. Only than did i have bleeding. The nurses were mummbling to each other looking shocked. They took me than to the delivery room and called my doctor. I learned after that i was 8cm dialated and contractions were 2 minutes apart. Doctor came, broke my water, they didn't even have time to give me gas let alone any pain killers before i had my baby boy Malachi, 7lbs 3oz at 8:32am naturally (which i am so proud of) with lots of screams. He was taken away because of concerns about infection since i had a temperature. In the NICU he stopped breathing and because of this did a spinal tap on him and put him on antibiotics for meningitis for 10 days. two weeks later we were discharged and he is perfect:
