I have bought both types (I'm a shopaholic, label/brand victim and gadget geek) and used them both fine.

I read the instructions on the Dr Brown but I'm still not sure if I've missed anything?? Should it 'do' anything?? Looks like a lot of 'gubbins' in there not doing much!!

And the MAM - not as much kit but how can I tell it's doing it's 'thang'....???

he he, you've made me laugh honey :) can't be any help for the dr browns but we use mam's and i'm sure i hear any air escaping out the bottom when the valves are (if their the ones you are using, anti colic? we use both types) other than that i'm not much use, i just no maddi doesn't have colic ever really (touch wood) though she has never been that colic-y since mam's :) (started with avent, i changed as wanted BPA free) x x x

the gubbins in the dr browns helps the air travel back into bottle...i love them :)

(biatch to pull apart and steralise mind!)

I believe Dr brown bottles are doing their "thang" cos Jess does not scream in pain like she used to- also im a bit reluctant to stop the infacol until she hits the 3month mark.

Should I be able to tell what they're doing ??? Or do they not visibly do anything eg. bubbles or noises etc.

No - no noises or bubbles here - the 'gubbins' just allow the milk to flow freely as if baby were sucking from he breast, without letting any air into it - if you try sucking from a bottle you will see how easily it flows :rofl:

 guess what I'm gonna be doing later!!!

LOL I thought the same thing since using Dr Browns! Just assumed they were doing what they were meant to because Daisy hasn't had colic since, so all good!!!
